In Islam, justice refers to establishing and maintaining fairness, equality, and righteousness in all aspects of life. It is an essential value that governs the behavior and actions of Muslims. Justice encompasses treating others with equity, ensuring the rights of individuals are respected, and upholding moral principles. It includes fair and impartial treatment in legal matters, social interactions, economic transactions, and governance. Islam teaches that justice should prevail even in the smallest of matters, and Muslims are encouraged to be just even if it goes against their own interests or favors others. Allah says in the Quran, "O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives. Whether one is rich or poor, Allah is more worthy of both." (4:135). Islam views justice as a fundamental requirement for a harmonious and righteous society.
