Site of the Month: ISLAMICITY

The
Each month, RELIGION & ETHICS NEWSWEEKLY chooses a Web site we find to be a significant contribution to religion and ethics. For July, 1999, our Site of the Month is IslamiCity at www.islam.org.

IslamiCity in Cyberspace provides "objective, rich, and stimulating information" about Islam. The site features a 24-hour live broadcast from the cities of Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia. The site also contains live chat rooms, additional streaming audio/video from Islam radio and television, and an online prayer room. IslamiCity offers extensive explanations behind Muslim traditions and beliefs, an index of the Islamic mosques around the world, and an in-depth Q&A section. The site encourages communication within the Islamic community and extends an open invitation to learn more about the Muslim faith.
