Al-Imran (The Family of Imran) - 3:117

[Allah:is not unjust] [Wind parable of] [Winds] [Worldly life:similitude of] [Worldly life]

The parable of what they spend on the life of this world is that of an icy wind which smites the tilth of people who have sinned against themselves, and destroys it: for, it is not God who does them wrong, but it is they who are wronging themselves. - 3:117 (Asad) -

Al-Kahf (The Cave) - 18:45

[Plants] [Rain sent down by Allah] [Winds] [Worldly life:similitude of]

AND PROPOUND unto them the parable of the life of this world: [it is] like the water which We send down from the skies, and which is absorbed by the plants of the earth: but [in time] they turn into dry . stubble which the winds blow freely about. And it is God [alone] who determines all things. - 18:45 (Asad) -

Al-Hadid (Iron) - 57:20

[Allah's good pleasure] [Crops] [Forgiveness] [Hereafter:better than worldly life] [Plants] [Rain sent down by Allah] [Worldly life:deception of] [Worldly life:similitude of]

KNOW [O men] that the life of this world is but a play and a passing delight, and a beautiful show, and [the cause of] your boastful vying with one another, and [of your] greed for more and more riches and children. Its parable is that of [life-giving] rain: the herbage which it causes to grow delights the tillers of the soil; but then it withers, and thou canst see it turn yellow; and in the end it crumbles into dust. But [the abiding truth of manís condition will become fully apparent] in the life to come: [either] suffering severe, or Godís forgiveness and His goodly acceptance: for the life of this world is nothing but an enjoyment of self-delusion. - 57:20 (Asad) -
