Ja'mmaa'a Prayer with a man and a woman
only
Question 92541: Can a muslim one man and one woman perform
janaat together?
Question 92541: Can a muslim one man and one woman perform
janaat together?
Answer:
Praise be to Allah.
Yes, it is permissible for one man to pray jamaa'ah (in
congregation) with one woman (say his wife). She would
stand behind him. (Note from the translator: It should be
understood that this would not substitute the man praying
jamaa'ah in the mosque whenever applicable.)
wallaahu a'lam.

Question 2733: Salaam Alaikum. Brother I have been browsing through the answers that you gave and thought they were ingenious. I have come across several questions which asked the importance of following the Schools of Law(Hanafi, Maliki, Shafii, Hanbali). You replied by saying that it didn't matter which Law you followed and recommended that one be followed. My question is: " Why do you continue to not include the Jafari School of Law, when you keep emphasizing that differentiation of the Schools of Law should not be done? Didn't Imam Jafar Saddiq create the first Islamic University, where he taught Imam Malik and Imam Abu Hanifah, along with 4,000 other islamic students, one them being including Al-Jabber(Algebra)? You also said that you would try to anwer the questions by including rulings of all the Schools of Law, and what I am aware of, you did not give the point of view of the Jafari School of Law? Is it not a valid School of Law? I am not trying to offend you my brother, I am just trying to keep the Ummah united. May the blessings of Allah remain on you and your family.
Answer: Dear Br. S. As-salaamu alaykum. We do appreciate your politeness and objectivity in posing the matter in front of us, and this is the best way communication can be constructive. The Sunni Muslims never denied the great importance of Imam Jaafar who was a great Jurist , a Mujtahid, and also one of the members of the Ahl al-Bayt (or the progeny of the House of prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). As you stated, he indeed taught great scholars and made a lot of contribution. However, we should make a difference between the views of Imam Jaafar himself and the Shiites school of thought because they are different. The Sunni scholars dont consider that all what Imam Jaafar had stated and taught has been correctly reported in the Shiites books of Islamic Jurisprudence (we are mainly talking here about the Twelvers Shiites), i.e., there are many views that are claimed to be his but arent in reality. Hence, whenever his views are documented and authenticated to be his own, Sunni scholars consider them valid and they quote them in the Sunni books of Jurisprudence. We should also note that the Shiites themselves dont take in the sayings and views of the students of Imam Jaafar himself, such as the ones you had stated previously. In conclusion, Muslims should strive towards the unity of the Islamic Ummah and our policy in Islamicity has really been focused towards this goal. However, had there not been a divergence among the two groups (the Sunni and Shiites) before we even came in the 20 th Century , the whole problem would not have existed. Therefore, as much as we try to unite the Muslims, we are not able to disregard a divergence of opinions that has existed for hundreds of years. Thank you for asking and God knows best. Jahaalah in free delivery and phone contracts

Question 114624: Assalaamu alaykum.A bit of ambiguity in business is allowed, like all-you-can-eat buffets, but my phone contract says that I pay one fee and can use as many minutes as I want, is this ok given that I am sure that the network studied the usage and so on. Similarly, with Amazon Prime, I pay one delivery fee and get as many deliveries for free as I want, and Amazon loses on this; is this ok?
Answer: All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger. Insignificant Jahaalah (ignorance and ambiguity) in contracts of financial transactions is excused and tolerated. This is a matter of fact in present-day transactions, and there is no harm in that; there is hardly a contract that is completely free of the element of Jahaalah. The scholarly difference in this regard is about the criterion in identifying the significant Jahaalah from the insignificant one. Al-Baaji wrote, "The insignificant Gharar (risk and uncertainty in transactions) does not impact the validity of a sale contract; no contract is absolutely free of such an element. However, scholars differed on the validity of contracts because of their difference of opinion regarding the extent of Gharar in a contract; is it significant and accordingly the contract is invalid, or is it insignificant and accordingly the contract is valid?" [Al-Muntaqa] This applies to the element of Jahaalah in the amount of food consumed in an 'open buffet'; such Jahaalah is closer to being excused because people are tolerant about it. An-Nawawi said, "Muslim scholars unanimously agreed on the permissibility of things in which there is insignificant Gharar. For instance, they unanimously agreed that it is allowed to pay a fixed fee for entering public baths although people differ in their usage of water and the duration of their stay therein. They also agreed that it is allowed to drink from the water skin in return for a fee while the exact amount of the drunk water is unknown." Please refer to fatwa 135439. As for the rest of the question, its answer is based on the fact that the knowledge that eliminates Jahaalah in Ijaarah (service) contracts is not attained by estimating the work or service only; rather, it is also attained by defining the duration of the service. Ibn Qudaamah said, "It is a condition to know the amount of the service, because the Ijaarah contract is a sale transaction in essence, and a sale is not valid unless the amount of the sold item is known. There are two ways to know it: First: determining the required service, such as sewing a certain garment, riding a means of transportation, or carrying an item to a particular place. Second: determining the duration of the service, such as leasing a house for one month..." [Al-Kaafi] Al-Margheenaani said, "A service is sometimes determined by duration, such as renting a house for residence therein ... The contract is valid if its duration is specified ... It may be determined by naming the service itself, such as hiring a man to dye or sew one's garment ... It may also be determined by specification and indication, such as hiring a man to move such-and-such food to a particular place..." [Al-Bidaayah] Hence, it is sufficient to determine the duration of subscription and the fees of that duration in order to establish knowledge of the service with regard to using phone lines, even if the number of used minutes differ. The same ruling applies to the shipping services if fixed fees are charged for a certain duration, contrary to when the duration is unspecified, in which case it would be Jahaalah that invalidates the contract and entails annulling it and conducting a new contract in which the amount or duration of the service is defined. Allah knows best. (Source: islam_web)

Question 949:
Everdearest imam,
Assalamu alaykum warahmatullahi taala wabarkatuhu
My question is regarding tauhid can u explain to me how jaiz
become wajib
truly yours,
allama,omar b.
Answer: Dear Br. A. As-salaamu alaykum. Your question is not very clear. We will answer it to the best of our understanding. If it is not what you meant, please resubmit it again with more clarification. Jaiz means something permissible to do, such as riding a bus, or choosing a white closet instead of a brown one, etc... Wajib means obligatory such as prayers, and giving charity if you can afford it etc. A Jaiz becomes a wajib (something permissible becomes obligatory) if necessity drives you to do it. If a certain food that will cure you from sickness is available and is the only alternative, then it is your duty to take it so as not to hurt yourself. If a woman is pregnant and fasting would hurt her or her baby, then the permission that allows such a person not to fast becomes an obligation (for her not to fast). We hope this clarifies your enquiry. Thank you for asking and God knows best.--------

Question 104271: Insh'a Allaah, this is the Jalaalud-Deen Roomi I am enquiring about. Can you quote what the scholars have said about him and whether we should read his books as his books are in English? JALAALUD-DEEN ROOMI (1207-1273 A.D) Jalaaluld-Deen Mohammad Ibn Mohammad Ibn Mohammad Ibn Hussein al-Rumi was born in 604 A.H. (1207/8 A.D) at Balkh (now Afghanistan). His father Baha al-Din was a renowned religious scholar. Under his patronage, Rumi received his early education from Syed Burhan-al-Din. When his age was about 18 years, the family (after several migrations) finally settled at Konya and at the age of 25, Rumi was sent to Aleppo for advanced education and later to Damascus. Rumi continued with his education till he was 40 years old, although on his father's death Rumi succeeded him as a professor in the famous Madrasah at Konya at the age of about 24 years. He received his mystical training first at the hands of Syed Burhan al-Din and later he was trained by Shams al-Din Tabriz. He became famous for his mystical insight, his religious knowledge and as a Persian poet. He used to teach a large number of pupils at his Madrasah and also founded the famous Maulvi Order in Tasawwuf. He died in 672 A.H. (1273 A.D) at Konya, which subsequently became a sacred place for dancing dervishes of the Maulvi Order. His major contribution lies in Islamic philosophy and Tasawwuf. This was embodied largely in poetry, especially through his famous Mathnawi. This book, the largest mystical exposition in verse, discusses and offers solutions to many complicated problems in metaphysics, religion, ethics, mysticism, etc. Fundamentally, the Mathnawi highlights the various hidden aspects of Sufism and their relationship with the worldly life. For this, Rumi draws on a variety of subjects and derives numerous examples from every- day life. His main subject is the relationship between man and God on the one hand, and between man and man, on the other. He apparently believed in Pantheism and portrayed the various stages of man's evolution in his journey towards the Ultimate. Apart from the Mathnawi, he also wrote his Diwaan (collection of poems) and Fihi-Ma-Fih (a collection of mystical sayings). How- ever, it is the Mathnawi itself that has largely transmitted Rumi's message. Soon after its completion, other scholars started writing detailed commentaries on it, in order to interpret its rich propositions on Tasawwuf, Metaphysics and Ethics. Several commentaries in different languages have been written since then. His impact on philosophy, literature, mysticism and culture, has been so deep throughout Central Asia and most Islamic countries that almost all religious scholars, mystics, philosophers, sociologists and others have referred to his verses during all these centuries since his death. Most difficult problems in these areas seem to get simplified in the light of his references. His message seems to have inspired most of the intellectuals in Central Asia and adjoining areas since his time, and scholars like Iqbal have further developed Rumi's concepts. The Mathnawi became known as the interpretation of the Qur'aan in the Pahlavi language. He is one of the few intellectuals and mystics whose views have so profoundly affected the world-view in its higher perspective in large parts of the Islamic World.
Answer:
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions. It is not the speciality of the website to judge people. Anyway, it is not permissible to read the books about the ideologies of a deviated person unless the reader has a sound religious knowledge and can distinguish between what is right and what is wrong. So it is not permissible to publish such books because it will be easy for the public to read them, and this could cause some misconceptions in their mind. Jalaalud-Deen, born in Persia stated in his biography the Soofist view in his poetry and writings, and stated that the soofi Shamsud-Deen Tabreezi had the greatest effect on his life after he met him. So he abandoned teaching and kept himself busy in Soofism and established a method called: "Al-Mawlawiyyah". He gave music a special place in the celebrations of his followers. Allaah knows best. Jalsah al-Istiraahah (Sitting for a brief rest during prayer)
Question 93347: What is the ruling on jalsah al-istiraahah?
Question 93347: What is the ruling on jalsah al-istiraahah?
Answer:
Praise be to Allah.
It is mustahabb to have the
habit of sitting for a brief rest during prayer, i.e., after the two
prostrations of each rakah in which one does not recite the Tashahhud
immediately after the prostrations. A hadeeth to this effect was reported
in Saheeh al-Bukhaari.
It was also reported in Sunan Abi
Dawood and Sunan al-Tirmidhi
via different isnaads that are also saheeh. This is the correct view
according to scholarly consensus in the madhhab of al-Shaafai. Jalsah
al-istiraahah is not mustahaab after sajdat al-tilaawah (prostration
during recitation of Quraan) during prayer. (Words of Imaam al-Nawawi).
Jalsah al-istiraahah is a
brief pause, sitting for a short while after the second prostration
and before standing up. It is Sunnah according to al-Shaafai, Ishaaq
and Ahmad. It was reported that Abu Qulaabah (may Allaah be pleased
with him) said: Maalik ibn al-Huwayrith showed us how the Messenger
of Allaah (peace and blessings
of Allaah be upon him) prayed, and when he raised his head from the
second prostration in the first rakah, he sat and then stood up. (Reported
by all five major scholars of hadeeth apart from Muslim). The wording
according to al-Bukhaari was: When he raised his head from the second
prostration, he sat and settled on the ground, then he stood up.
I say: one of the features
of the prayer is jalsah al-istiraahah which should be done after every
prostration from which one stands up.
It is not Sunnah to do Jalsah
al-Istiraahah after Sajdat al-Tilaawah, or when one is praying sitting
down, or in the fourth or second rakah of Zuhr, for example, if a person
wants to recite Tashahhud. If he does not want to recite it, then it
is Sunnah to do Jalsah al-istiraahah.
It is a separation between the two rakahs,
according to the soundest opinion, it is not a part of either the first
rakah or the second.
The best is not to make it
last longer than a few seconds, because according to the Sunnah, the
shorter it is the better, like when one keeps quiet in prayer.

Question 615: Asalamu Alakum
A hadith was told ot me about the Prophet(SAAW) saying that
when the call for athan is made, he(SAAW)would order someone
to lead the prayer and leave from the back. Then he(SAAW)
would gather fire wood and burn the houses of those who didn't
come to the prayer, I believe that this was the Isha prayer.
The person who told this hadith to me had it interpetated
as group salah is mandatory. Is this correct? If it is do
you commit a sin for making your prayer alone? And if
you have an excuse for not making the group prayer do
you still get a sin?
The interpetation of the hadith that was said did make
sense, but I have read other hadith that state that if you
an excuse than it is okay. I also remember a hadith that
states that a blind man wasn't even permitted from not
making the group prayer when he heard the athan. The
question I have for that is that in muslim coutries the
athan is said said out loud so everyone can hear it, but
in the US the athan is said in the mosque and doesn't
travel outside it. So if we know there is going to be
athan called, but not heard, must we still responed?
Answer: Dear Br. A. As-Salaamu Alaykum. Regarding your question, the Islamic Scholars have
different opinions about the Jama'a (or GROUP -not Friday-) prayer. Some of them say
that it is mandatory to every man, and any man who does not perform it in Group
actually committs and sin. Another part of Muslim Scholars say that it s a Fard Kifaya, which
means that if some people perform it collectively, then the other ones don't have to do it,
and a third group said that GROUP prayer is only a Sunna. Each group has its legitimate
proofs which we will expose to you. The first opinion (Mandatory) is for the Hanbali school
who bases its opinion on the verse of the Qur'an in An-Nisaa, verse 102. (please refer
to it in the Qur'an, it is a long verse to type). The Hanbali school says that if this verse
obligates Group prayers which are prescribed even in the case of fear, then, it should
be mandatory when the fear factor is not existing. Also al-Baqarah, verse 43, Allah
says: '...and bow down yourselves along with those who are bowing down', and in Al-Imran,
verse 43. In this context, bowing down is an order which shows that group prayer is
obligatory. The Hanbali also base their opinions on the hadith of prophet Mohammad
(pbuh) burning the houses of those who don't attend the group prayers.
The second opinion, which says that if a group of people do it, then the rest of
people don't have to, is the opinion of the Shafi'i school, that says that GROUP prayer is
one of the symbols of Islam. As to the third opinion which says that it is a Sunna, The
Hanafi and Maliki schools prescribe to it. They base their opinion on the fact tha prophet
Muhammad (pbuh) encouraged the group prayer and said that its reward is higher than
the person who prays alone, but didn't impose it. This is based on the occasion that
when two Muslims told him that they prayed in Rihalina (in their homes), he didn't blame
them, otherwise, he would have done it if it was mandatory.
The conclusion about this is that 1-Group prayer is one of the symbols of Islam, 2-a
person who is able to do it should perform it collectively unless he has a legitimate
reason, ad 3- if he prays on his own, he is not committing a sin, but he would be
neglecting a Sunna of prophet Muhammad that is very authentic and sure. Thank you for
asking and God knows best.

Question 1875: Asalamu alakum, I was wondering if you can help me with the aspect of praying in Jamah (with other muslims).
First of all, what does ALLAH SWT say about praying in Jamah? What about praying in jamah as a sunnah prayer
ie...if I pray with another brother after I have already done my Fard prayer? Also, what else Is said about Jamah
praying in the Masjid as apposed, to the home. Insha Allah you will be able to answer me, Suhkran for all of your hard work and
may ALLAH (SWT) bless you all for this highly beneficial service.
Answer: Dear S. As-salaamu alaykum. Praying Jamaa is extremely recommended in Islam and the Jamaa prayer is better than praying individually. The Jamaa prayer brings reward 27 times more than praying individually. This reward is given regardless if the Jamaa is prayed at home or at the mosque, however, praying at the mosque is better because it is an honored place while a person's home doesn't hold special honor in Islam. In addition, the act of going to and coming back from the mosque carries rewards in it. As to the issue of praying Sunnah prayer in jamaa, Muslim scholars hold different views regarding this issue and you may choose whichever you want because they are valid from an Islamic legal point: here is in brief the ruling: According to the Shafii school of thought (which, in this matter, is the most lenient), the intention of the Imam and the Maamoum (maamoum means the person praying behind the Imam) doesn't matter, i.e., if the Imam is praying a prescribed prayer and the maamoum joins him to pray a Sunnah prayer, or vice versa, i.e., the Imam is praying the Sunnah prayer and the Maamoum is praying a prescribed prayer, all of their prayers are considered valid. As to the Hanafi and Maliki schools of thought, they require that the Imam be praying a 'stronger' prayer: i.e., if an Imam is praying a Sunnah prayer while the Maamoum is praying a prescribed prayer, such as Isha prayer, then the prayer of the maamoum is not considered valid because it is stronger than that of the Imam who is praying a Sunnah prayer. As we stated, you may choose the opinion that you want. Thank you for asking and God knows best. (Source: IslamiCity)

Question 645: Asalam-o-Alaikum
I have 2 questions regarding the jama' prayer.
In a Jama' prayer are you supposed to stand quitely
behind the imam and listen to him?
In the third raka' are you suppose to recite fathiha
or are you supposed to stand quitely?
Thanks you.
Answer: Dear Br. M. Assalum Alaykum. Regarding your question, Muslim scholars have different opinions concerning the jama' prayer, i.e. whether or not a person behind the Imam should read the Fatiha. According to Imam Shafii, it is obligatory to recite the fatiha whether the Imam is doing his first two rikaas or the last two, and whether the first two rikaa are recited by the Imam loudly (Fajr, Maghrib, and Isha') or quietly (Zuhr and Asr). However, Imam Abu Hanifa's opinion says that is not required to recite the fathiha behind the Imam, regardless whether his recitation is quite or loud, and whether it is in the first two or the last two Rakaas. As to Imam Malik, his opinion is a moderate one, requiring the recital of the fathiha by the person performing prayer when the Imam is quietly reciting since that person will not be distracted to listen to the Imam, yet at the same time, he didn't obligate him to recite when the Imam is reading loudly since he would be busy listening to the Imam. For each Imam, the ruling is based on many evidence which we will try to summarize them briefly: 1- The Shafii requires the recitation of the Fatiha at all Rikaas behind the imam basing his opinion on the authentic Hadith of prophet Muhammad (pbuh): 'No prayer -is valid-for the one who does not read the Fatiha'. The hadith in the Fundamental Principles of Fiqh is considered general, not differentiating between the Imam or the Ma'moum (the person behind the Imam) or the person praying by himself. For that reason, all three of them have to read the Fatiha in every rakaa. 2- Abu Hanifa bases his opinion for not reading the fathiha behind the imam in all circumstances on the following Hadith of prophet Muhammad (pbuh): 'the reading of the Imam IS the reading of the Ma'moum (or te one behind the Imam)'. In this respect, Abu Hanifa stated that the Hadith of prophet Muhammad (pbuh) mentioned by Imam Shafii 'No prayer -is valid-for the one who does not read the Fatiha' is valid but applies for the Imam and the person performing prayer on his own, and not for the Ma'moum. Dear Muslim brother, you may question yourself why didn't Imam Shafii agree with Abu Hanifa's opinion? The answer for this question is that Imam Shafii considers Abu Hanifa hadith weak and therefore cannot be used as an evidence, while Imam Abu Hanifa considers it authentic. 3- As far as Imam Malik's opinion, it requires the recitation of the fatiha when the Imam is reciting quietly, basing his saying on the following authentic hadith: 'No prayer -is valid-for the one who does not read the Fatiha', and doesn't require the reading of the Fatiha based on verse (204) of Surah al-A'raf (So, when the Qur'an is recited, listen to it, and be silent that you may receive mercy). In this respect, he consolidated the apparent divergence and contradiction of the two Hadiths. Finally, you may wonder how did Imam Shafii reconcile the Hadith with the Verse of the Qur'an? The Imam following the Shafii opinion reads the Fatiha, then waits a few moments for the people behind him read the Fatiha, then he continues onto other verses. In conclusion, this is the answer in brief although there are many more arguments to the whole matter. Currently we can not go in to more details, nor should we miss the point and confuse you more. The best thing is to listen to the people who are advising you about this matter. See how they build their argument keeping in mind the spirit and purpose of Sharia, then make up your decision on the opinion that is the most logical to you without having the intention to change from one opinion to another one according to your convenience. Thank you for asking (Source: IslamiCity)

Question 94140: what's the Islamic point of view concerning the new group that appeared in Islam "AL AHBASH"? what are we supposed to do with them? and would you please tell me in brief what are the mistakes they have in their Aqeedah?
Answer:
Praise be to Allah.
Alone, and peace and blessings be upon the one after whom there is no Prophet, and upon his family and companions.
The Standing Committee for Academic Research and Issuing Fatwaas (al-Lajnah al-Daaimah lil-Buhooth al-Ilmiyyah wal-Iftaa) has received questions and requests for information concerning Jamaaat al-Ahbaash (the Habashis) and about the person after whom this group is named, one Abd-Allaah al-Habashi, who is based in Lebanon. This group conducts activities in various European countries, and in America and Australia. The Committee therefore examined the books and articles published by this group, in which their beliefs, thoughts and call are stated clearly. After examining this material and pondering the matter, the Committee issued the following statement to the Muslims:
Firstly:
It was reported in al-Saheehayn from the hadeeth of Ibn Masood (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
The best of people are my generation, then the generation that follows them, then the generation that follows them. And there are other versions of this hadeeth.
And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
I advise you to fear Allaah and to listen and obey, even if a slave is appointed as your leader. Whoever among you lives after I die will see differences arise. I urge you to adhere to my Sunnah and the way of my rightly-guided successors (al-khulafaa al-raashidoon); clench your teeth on it (i.e., hold fast to it). Beware of newly invented things, for every innovation (bidah) is a going astray. (Narrated by Ahmad, and Abu Dawood and al-Tirmidhi, who said, it is a saheeh hasan hadeeth).
One of the most important characteristics by which those first generations were distinguished and by which the achieved a higher level of righteousness than all other people, was the fact that they referred all their affairs to the Quraan and Sunnah; the Quraan and Sunnah were given precedence over all individual opinions, no matter whose opinion it was; they understood the texts of the two noble Revelations (i.e., the Quraan and Sunnah) in accordance with the principles of shareeah and the Arabic language; the shareeah was adopted in its entirety, and with regard to every single detail; ambiguous texts were referred to clear texts. Hence they upheld the shareeah and adhered to it, and they held fast to it. They did not add anything to it or take anything away from it. How could they add anything to it or take anything away from it when they were adhering to the divine texts which free from mistakes and errors?
Secondly:
Then these generations were succeeded by others among whom there were many innovations and invented matters, where everyone who had an opinion was enamoured of his opinion and forsook the texts of shareeah, and the texts were deliberately misinterpreted and distorted to suit peoples desires and ideas. Thus they went against the Trustworthy Messenger, and followed a way other than that of the believers. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
And whoever contradicts and opposes the Messenger (Muhammad) after the right path has been shown clearly to him, and follows other than the believers way, We shall keep him in the path he has chosen, and burn him in Hell what an evil destination! [al-Nisaa 4:115]
It is a part of the grace of Allaah towards this Ummah that in each age He sends to it scholars who are well versed in knowledge and who can stand up against every kind of bidah that distorts the beauty of the faith and contaminates its purity, and competes with or tries to destroy the Sunnah. This is the fulfilment of Allaah to protect His religion and shareeah, as He said (interpretation of the meaning):
Verily, We, it is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Quraan) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption) [al-Hijr 15:9]
And according to the hadeeth narrated in the books of Saheeh, the Sunans, the Musnads and others, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
A group of my ummah will continue to adhere to the commands of Allaah, and they will not be harmed by those who let them down or oppose them, until the Command of Allaah comes to pass, and they will be prevailing over the people. And there are other versions of this report.
Thirdly:
During the last quarter of the fourteenth century AH there emerged a group led by Abd-Allaah al-Habashi, who moved from Ethiopia to Syria, taking his miguidance with him, and he moved about in that region until he settled in Lebanon, where he started to call people to his way. His number of followers increased and his ideas which are a mixture of the ideas of the Jahamiyyah [a group which misinterpreted the attributes of Allaah], the Mutazilah [a philosophical group many of whose ideas differ from those of Ahl al-Sunnah], grave-worshippers and Sufis began to spread. He fanatically supported his ideas by engaging in debates and printing books and leaflets which propagate them.
Anyone who reads what has been written and published by this group will see clearly that their beliefs go beyond the pale of Islam, i.e. Jamaaat al-Muslimeen (Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamaaah). Among their false beliefs, for example are the following (this is not a complete list):
1.With regard to the issue of faith, they follow the school of thought of al-Irjaa [those who believe that sin does not matter so long as one is a believer] which is condemned in Islam.
It is known that the belief of the Muslims, which was that followed by the Sahaabah, the Taabieen and those who follow their path until the present day, is that faith (eemaan) is the matter of words spoken by the tongue, beliefs held in the heart and actions done by the body. Belief must be accompanied by submission to the laws of Islam, otherwise that so-called faith is not valid.
There are many reports from the Salaf which confirm this belief, for example the words of Imaam al-Shaafa'i (may Allaah have mercy on him): Among the consensus of the Sahaabah and the Taabieen and those who came after them, and those whom we have met, is that they say: faith is words, actions and intentions; one of these three will not be complete without the others.
2.They allow seeking help from and seeking refuge with the dead, and praying to them instead of to Allaah. This is shirk akbar (major shirk) according to the texts of the Quraan and Sunnah, and the consensus (ijmaa) of the Muslims. This shirk is the same as the religion of the earlier mushrikeen, such as the kuffaar of Quraysh and others, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meanings:
"And they worship besides Allaah things that harm them not, nor profit them, and they say: 'These are our intercessors with Allaah'" [Yoonus 10:18]
Verily, We have sent down the Book to you (O Muhammad) in truth. So worship Allaah (Alone) by doing religious deeds sincerely for Allaahs sake only.
Surely, the religion (i.e. the worship and the obedience) is for Allaah only. And those who take Auliyaa (protectors, helpers, lords, gods) besides Him (say): We worship them only that they may bring us near to Allaah. Verily, Allaah will judge between them concerning that wherein they differ. Truly, Allaah guides not him who is a liar, and a disbeliever
[al-Zumar 39:2-3]
Say (O Muhammad): Who rescues you from the darkness of the land and the sea (dangers like storms), (when) you call upon Him in humility and in secret (saying): If He (Allaah) only saves us from this (danger), we shall truly, be grateful. [al-Anaam 6:63]
And the mosques are for Allaah (Alone), so invoke not anyone along with Allaah [al-Jinn 72;18]
Such is Allaah, your Lord; His is the kingdom. And those, whom you invoke or call upon instead of Him, own not even a Qitmeer (the thin membrane over the date stone). If you invoke (or call upon) them, they hear not your call; and if (in case) they were to hear, they could not grant it (your request) to you. And on the Day of Resurrection, they will disown your worshipping them. And none can inform you (O Muhammad) like Him Who is the All-Knower (of everything) [Faatir 35:13-14]
And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Duaa (supplication) is worship. This was narrated by the authors of Sunan with a saheeh isnaad. And there are many aayaat and ahaadeeth which say the same thing. This indicates that the earlier mushrikeen knew that Allaah was the Creator and Provider, the One Who brings benefit or causes harm, and they worshipped their gods so that they would intercede for them with Allaah and bring them closer to Him. Thus they committed shirk. Allaah ruled that they were guilty of kufr and shirk, and commanded His Prophet to fight them until all worship was for Allaah Alone, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and polytheism, i.e. worshipping others besides Allaah), and the religion (worship) will all be for Allaah Alone [al-Anfaal 8:39]
The scholars have written many books on this topic in which they have explained clearly the true Islam with which Allaah sent His Messengers and revealed His Books. They also discussed the religion and beliefs of the people of the Jaahiliyyah, and their actions which went against the laws of Allaah. One of the best writers on this topic was Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him), in his numerous books. One of the most concise of his works is Qaaidah Jaliyyah fil-Tawassul wal-Waseelah.
3.In their view, the Quraan is not the Word of Allaah in the true sense.
It is known from the texts of the Quraan and Sunnah, and by the consensus of the Muslims, that Allaah speaks whenever He wills, in a manner that befits His Majesty, may He be glorified, and that the Quraan, both its letters and meanings, is the word of Allaah in the true sense. Allaah says (interpretation of the meanings):
And if anyone of the Mushrikoon (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allaah) seeks your protection then grant him protection so that he may hear the Word of Allaah [al-Tawbah 9:6]
and to Moosa (Moses) Allaah spoke directly [al-Nisaa 4:164]
And the Word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice [al-Anaam 6:115]
a party of them (Jewish rabbis) used to hear the Word of Allaah [the Tauraat (Torah)], then they used to change it knowingly after they understood it?
[al-Baqarah 2:75]
They want to change Allaahs Words. Say: You shall not follow us; thus Allaah has said beforehand. [al-Fath 48:15]
And there are many well known aayaat which say the same thing. Numerous mutawaatir reports from the Salaf confirm this belief, which is stated in the texts of the Quraan and Sunnah to Allaah be praise and blessings.
4. They think that it is obligatory to interpret the texts of the Quraan and Sunnah which speak of the attributes of Allaah, may He be glorified and exalted (i.e., to understand them differently from the apparent meaning). This is contrary to the consensus of the Muslims, from the Sahaabah and Taabieen to those who follow their path until the present day. The Muslims believe that it is obligatory to believe in what is stated in the texts about the Names and attributes of Allaah, without distorting the meanings, denying any of His attributes, discussing the hows and whys or likening any of Allaahs attributes to human attributes. They (the Muslims) believe that there is none like unto Allaah and He is the All-Hearing, All-Seeing; they do not deny any of the attributes with which He has described himself. They do not change the words from their (right) places or belie or deny (or utter impious speech against) His Names or signs. They do not discuss the nature of His attributes, or liken His attributes to the attributes of His creation, because there is nothing that can be compared to Him, and He has no equal or rival.
Imaam al-Shaafa'i (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: I believe in Allaah and in what has come from Allaah as Allaah meant it. I believe in the Messenger of Allaah and in what has come from the Messenger of Allaah as the Messenger of Allaah meant it. Imaam Ahmad (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: We believe in it; we do not reject anything that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, and we do not describe Allaah with more than He has described Himself.
5.Among their false beliefs, they deny that Allaah is above His creation.
The belief of the Muslims, as indicated by the verses of the Quraan, the ahaadeeth of the Prophet, sound human nature and clear common sense is that Allaah is above His creation, over His Throne, and nothing at all of His creatures affairs is hidden from Him. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
and then He rose over (Istawaa) the Throne (really in a manner that suits His Majesty). [al-Araaf 7:54] this phrase appears seven times in the Quraaan. And Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
To Him ascend (all) the goodly words, and the righteous deeds exalt it (i.e. the goodly words are not accepted by Allaah unless and until they are followed by good deeds) [Faatir 35:10]
And He is the Most High, the Most Great [al-Baqarah 2:255]
Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High [al-Alaa 87:1]
And to Allaah prostrate all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth, of the moving (living) creatures and the angels, and they are not proud [i.e. they worship their Lord (Allaah) with humility]. They fear their Lord above them, and they do what they are commanded [al-Nahl 16:49-50] and there are other similar aayaat.
And many saheeh ahaadeeth have been narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) on this topic, for example: the story of the Miraaj (ascent into the heavens), which is mutawaatir, when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) passed through the heavens one by one, until he reached his Lord, Who brought him close or called to him, and enjoined fifty prayers upon him, then he kept going back and forth between Moosa (peace be upon him) and his Lord. He came down from the presence of his Lord to Moosa, and Moosa asked him, How many (prayers) have been enjoined upon you? When he told him, he said, Go back to your Lord and ask Him to reduce them. So he went back up to his Lord and asked Him to reduce them.
It was reported in al-Saheehayn that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: When Allaah created His creation, He wrote in a Book which is with Him, above the Throne: My Mercy prevails over My wrath.
It was reported in al-Saheehayn from Abu Saeed al-Khudri (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Do you not trust me, when I am the trustee of the One Who is in the heaven?
In Saheeh Ibn Khuzaymah and Sunan Abi Dawood it is reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: The Throne is above water, and Allaah is above the Throne, and Allaah knows what you are doing.
In Saheeh Muslim and elsewhere it is reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to the slave-girl, Where is Allaah? She said, In heaven. He said, Who am I? She said, You are the Messenger of Allaah. He said: Set her free, for she is a believer.
This is the pure belief which was adhered to by the Muslims: the Sahaabah, the Taabieen and those who have followed them in truth until the present day, praise be to Allaah. Because of the great importance of this topic and the fact that so much evidence (daleel) more than one thousand aayaat and ahaadeeth points to it, the scholars have devoted books to it, e.g., al-Haafiz Abu Abd-Allaah al-Dhahabi in al-Alu lil-Aliy al-Ghaffaar, and al-Haafiz Ibn al-Qayyim in Ijtimaa al-Juyoosh al-Islaamiyyah.
6. They speak of some of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in a manner that is not appropriate.
An example of that is their statement that Muaawiyah (may Allaah be pleased with him) was a faasiq (rebellious evildoer). In this regard they go along with the Raafidis (may Allaah curse them). The Muslims should not discuss what happened among the Sahaabah, may Allaah be pleased with them all; they should refrain from speaking whilst believing that all of them were good and had the virtue of having been companions of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). It was reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Do not slander my Companions, for even if any of you were to spend (in charity) gold equivalent to the size of Mount Uhud, he would never reach their level, not even half way. (Narrated by al-Bukhaari and Muslim). And Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
And those who came after them say: Our Lord! Forgive us and our brethren who have preceded us in Faith, and put not in our hearts any hatred against those who have believed. Our Lord! You are indeed full of kindness, Most Merciful. [al-Hashr 59:10]
This is the sound belief concerning the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). This is the belief of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamaaah throughout the centuries. Imaam Abu Jafaar al-Tahhaawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said, explaining the beliefs of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamaaah:
We love the companions of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), but we do not go to extremes in our love for any of them, and we do not disown any of them. We hate those who hate them, and we do not say anything but good about them (the companions). Love for them is true religion, faith and goodness; hatred for them is kufr, hypocrisy and transgression.
Fourthly:
What we may note about this group is that they follow weird fatwas, and their fatwas go against the shari texts of the Quraan and Sunnah. Examples of that include the following:
They permit gambling with the kuffaar in order to take away their money; they permit stealing their crops and animals, on the condition that this stealing will not cause fitnah (tribulation); they permit dealing in ribaa when dealing with the kuffaar; they permit those who are in need to buy lottery tickets, which is haraam.
Other ways in which they obviously go against the shareeah include:
They permit looking at a non-mahram woman in a mirror or on a screen, even with desire; they say that persisting in looking at a non-mahram woman is not haraam; they say that for a man to look at any part of a woman who is not permissible for him is not haraam; they say that if a woman goes out wearing make-up and perfume but she does not have the intention of attracting men, this is not haraam; they permit free mixing of men and women; and they have other odd and outrageous fatwas which go against shareeah and they consider things which are major sins to be permissible. We ask Allaah to keep us safe from that which will provoke His wrath and earn His punishment.
Fifthly:
Some of the outrageous means they use to turn people away from the scholars who have deep knowledge, and put people off from reading their books or referring to the reports transmitted from them, include: slandering them, belittling them and undermining them, and even denouncing them as kaafirs. Chief among the scholars whom they defame in this manner is the imaam and mujaddid Shaykh al-Islam Abul-Abbaas Ahmad ibn Abd al-Haleem ibn Abd al-Salaam ibn Taymiyah, may Allaah have mercy on him. Abd-Allaah al-Habashi even wrote a book specifically about this reforming imaam, in which he accused him of being misguided and misled; he attributed to him words that he did not say, and fabricated other lies about him. Allaah will deal with him, and it is before Allaah that all disputing parties will ultimately meet.
They also slander the reforming imaam Shaykh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhaab, may Allaah have mercy on him, and his call for reform which he undertook in the heart of the Arabian Peninsula, where he called people to follow Tawheed and cast aside Shirk, to honour the texts of the Quraan and Sunnah and to act upon them, and to uphold the Sunnah and do away with bidah. Through him, Allaah revived the teachings of Islam that had been forgotten, and He did away with whatever He willed of bidah and innovation. The effects of this call by the grace and blessings of Allaah spread throughout the Islamic world, and Allaah guided many people thereby. But this misguided group have directed their arrows against this call of the Sunnah and those who make this call; they have fabricated lies and propagated doubts and confusion, and they have rejected this clear call to follow the Quraan and Sunnah. They have done all of this to put people off the truth and to prevent them from following the straight path. We seek refuge with Allaah from that.
No doubt the hatred that this group has towards the great and blessed scholars of this ummah is indicative of the hatred that they hold in their hearts towards everyone who calls people to worship Allaah Alone and adhere to Tawheed, which was the belief and way of the people of the best generations. This group is far away from the essence of true Islam.
Seventhly:
Based on what we have said above, and other things that we have not mentioned here, the Committee makes the following statements:
1-Jamaaat al-Ahbaash (the Habashis) is a misguided group which is beyond the pale of the Muslim community (Jamaaat al-Muslimeen, i.e., Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamaaah). They must come back to the truth which was followed by the Sahaabah and Taabieen in all aspects of religion, action and belief. This is better and more lasting for them.
2-It is not permissible to follow the fatwas of this group, because they adopt odd views which clearly contradict the Quraan and Sunnah, and they follow some far-fetched and corrupt interpretations of some shari texts. All of these are reasons why ordinary Muslims should not trust their fatwas or believe them.
3-What they say about the Ahaadeeth of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is not to be trusted, whether it has to do with the isnaad or the meaning of a hadeeth.
4-Muslims in all places must beware of this misguided group and warn others against them. They must beware of falling into their traps under any name or banner, and they should seek reward by advising their followers who have been deceived by them, and explain the faults in their way of thinking and their beliefs.
Having stated this clearly to the people, the Committee asks Allaah, may He be exalted, by His Most Beautiful Names and Sublime Attributes to protect the Muslims from all fitnahs (trials, temptations), both visible and invisible, to guide those Muslims who have gone astray, to reform their affairs, to turn the plots of the plotters against them, and to suffice the Muslims against their evil. For Allaah is Able to do all things, and He is most Generous in responding. May Allaah bless our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions, and those who follow them in truth.

Jamaaat al-Tableegh pros and cons
Question 94157: What is the ruling on the 40 days and 4 months to the different part of world to call muslim brothers towards duties of islam.
Question 94157: What is the ruling on the 40 days and 4 months to the different part of world to call muslim brothers towards duties of islam.
Answer:
Praise be to Allah.
Jamaaat al-Tableegh is one of the groups
that are working for Islam. Their efforts in calling people to Allaah (dawah) cannot be denied. But like many other groups they make some
mistakes, and some points should be noted concerning them. These points may be summed up as follows, noting that these mistakes may vary within
this group, depending on the environment and society in which they find themselves. In societies in which knowledge and scholars are prevalent and
the madhhab of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamaaah is widespread, the mistakes are much less; in other societies these mistakes may be greater. Some of
their mistakes are:
1 Not adopting the aqeedah of Ahl
al-Sunnah wa'l-Jamaa'ah. This is clearly seen from the variations in the aqeedah of some of their members and even of some of their leaders.
2 Their not paying attention to shari
knowledge.
3 Their misinterpretation of some Quraanic
verses in a manner that was not intended by Allaah. For example they interpret the verses on jihad as referring to going out for dawah. The
verses which mentioned the word khurooj (going out) etc. are interpreted by them as meaning going out for dawah.
4 They make their system of going out for
dawah an act of worship. So they started to misquote the Quraan to support their system which specifies certain numbers of days and months. This
system, which they think is based on evidence from Quraan, is widespread among them in all countries and environments.
5 They do some things that go against
shareeah, such as appointing one of them to make duaa for them whilst the group goes out for dawah, and they think that their success or
failure depends on whether or not this man was sincere and his duaa accepted.
6 Daeef (weak) and mawdoo (fabricated)
ahaadeeth are widespread among them, and this is not befitting for those who aim to call people to Allaah.
7 They do not speak of munkaraat (evil
things), thinking that enjoining what is good is sufficient. Hence we find that they do not speak about evils that are widespread among the
people, even though the slogan of this ummah which they continually repeat is:
Let
there arise out of you a group of people inviting to all that is good (Islam), enjoining Al-Maroof (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam
orders one to do) and forbidding Al-Munkar (polytheism and disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden). And it is they who are the successful
[Aal Imraan 3:104 interpretation of the
meaning]
The successful are those who enjoin what is good and forbid what
is evil, not just those who do only one of the two.
8 Some of them fall into self-admiration
and arrogance, which leads them to look down on others, and even to look down on the scholars and describe them as inactive and sleeping, or to
show off. So you find them talking about how they went out and travelled, and they saw such and such, which leads to unfavourable results, as we
have mentioned.
9 They regard going out for dawah as
better than many acts of worship such as jihad and seeking knowledge, even though those things are obligatory duties, or may be obligatory for
some people but not others.
10 Some of them audaciously issue fatwas,
and discuss tafseer and hadeeth. That is because they allow each one of them to address the people and explain to them. This leads to them speak
audaciously on matters of shareeah. So the inevitably speak of the meaning of a ruling, hadeeth or verse when they have not read anything about
it, or listened to any of the scholars. And some of them are new Muslims or have only recently come back to Islam.
11- Some of them are negligent with regard to
the rights of their children and wives. We have discussed the seriousness of this matter in the answer to question no.
3043.
Hence the scholars do not allow people to go
out with them, except for those who want to help them and correct the mistakes that they have fallen into.
We should not keep the people away from them
altogether, rather we must try to correct their mistakes and advise them so that their efforts will continue and they will be correct according to
the Quraan and Sunnah.
There follow the fatwas of some of the
scholars concerning Jamaaat al-Tableegh:
1 Shaykh Abd al-Azeez ibn Baaz said:
Jamaaat al-Tableegh do not have proper
understanding of the issues of aqeedah, so it is not permissible to go out with them, except for one who has knowledge and understanding of the
correct aqeedah of Ahl al-Sunnah wa'l-Jamaa'ah, so that he can guide them and advise them, and cooperate with them in doing good, because they
are very active, but they need more knowledge and someone who can guide them of those who have knowledge of Tawheed and the Sunnah. May Allaah
bless us all with proper understanding of Islam and make us steadfast in adhering to it.
Majmoo Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn Baaz,
8/331
2 Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan said:
Going out for the sake of Allaah does not refer to the kind of
going out that they mean nowadays. Going out for the sake of Allaah means going out to fight. What they call going out nowadays is a bidah
(innovation) that was not narrated from the salaf.
Going out to call people to Allaah cannot be
limited to a certain number of days, rather one should call people to Allaah according to one's abilities, without limiting that to a group or to
forty days or more or less than that.
Similarly the daaiyah must have knowledge.
It is not permissible for a person to call people to Allaah when he is ignorant. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
Say (O Muhammad): This is my way; I
invite unto Allaah (i.e. to the Oneness of Allaah Islamic Monotheism) with sure knowledge
[Yoosuf 12:108]
i.e., with knowledge, because the caller must know that to which
he calls people, what is obligatory, mustahabb, haraam and makrooh. He has to know what shirk, sin, kufr, immorality and disobedience are; he has
to know the degrees of denouncing evil and how to do it.
The kind of going out that distracts people from seeking knowledge
is wrong, because seeking knowledge is an obligation, and it can only be achieved by learning, not by inspiration. This is one of the misguided
Sufi myths, because action without knowledge is misguidance, and hoping to acquire knowledge without learning is an illusion.
From Thalaath Mihaadaraat fil-Ilm
wal-Dawah.
And Allaah knows best.

Question 105154: I am inquiring about the personality of Jamal Edeen Al-Afghani and his disciple Muhammad Abdu. They claimed to be following the Salafi way but I read a book lately that claims that they were free masons (Masonic). Please clarify.
Answer:
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. Muhammad Abdu is one of the personalities that marked the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries Hijri. He studied in Al-Azhar and became Mufti of Egypt as he became also a judge. Many people wrote about him. Some praised him while others criticized and even dispraised him. Sheikh Rashid Ridha wrote a book about him entitled: "The history of the Teacher and Imam". He praised him a lot in that book. But, this is not astonishing as Muhammad Ridha was one of Muhammad Abdus disciples. Nevertheless, other people dispraised Muhammad Abdu claiming that he had some connections with the Freemason as well as the British colonizers of his time. They stated that he had particular relations with Lord Kramer and Mr. Blunt who were both from the British colonial staff in Egypt in that time. Among the writers who made this claim was Muhammad Muhammad Hussein in his book: "Islam and the Western civilization". It is a good book on this subject. Muhammad Abdu was known for his liberal opinions. His disciples followed that trend. One of the most famous of his students is Ghasem Ameen who was the leader of Woman Freedom. What was said about Muhammad Abdu also applies to Al Afghani. But some people say that they both gave up their allegiance with the free masons when they discovered their true face. Allah knows best. Question 93187: Assalaamu 'Alaikum,
I attended a funeral today for my wife's aunt. After the janazah prayer, I
found out that the person performing the janazah prayer was not muslim. He was an Ahmadi
belonging to the sect who says Mirza Gulam was a prophet. I personally feel that the
janazah was not valid, but there were a lot of muslims in the congregation, who paid
little attention to the fact that the leader was not muslim. Should my family and I
re-pray the janazah?
Answer:
Praise be to Allah.
Yes, you have to repeat the funeral prayer, because this imaam behind
whom you prayed is a believer in a kaafir doctrine which puts him beyond the pale of
Islam. We ask Allaah to show mercy to your deceased loved one..

Question 111801: What is the ruling on When a person dies while his son was abroad and he was adviced to go alone to his father's grave and pray Salat al-Ghaib how far is that true please clarify with authentic Hadith.
Answer: All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad (saw) is His slave and Messenger.
It is permissible to perform the funeral prayer on a deceased person until one month after his burial, if one had not performed it on him. This is the opinion of the majority of Muslim scholars.
Ibn Qudaamah wrote in his book Al-Mughni: “If one misses offering the funeral prayer on a dead person, he may perform the prayer as long as the body is not buried. If it is buried, he may even offer the prayer until one month after the burial (but after that period no prayer is to be performed on the grave). This is the opinion of the majority of Muslim scholars. Therefore, you are permitted to offer the prayer on your dead father as long as his burial date has not exceeded one month.

Janaazah prayer for deceased woman and children
Question 111764: What is Du'a to be recited for deceased woman and children in Janaazah prayer?
Question 111764: What is Du'a to be recited for deceased woman and children in Janaazah prayer?
Answer:
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions. Funeral prayer is performed with four Takbeer (Allaahu Akbar). After first Takbeer one recites chapter Al-Faatihah, after second Takbeer he reads Salat Ibraahimiyah (Allahumma Salli 'Ala Muhammdin wa 'Ala Aali the one recited in Tashahhud during the prayers) and after third Takbeer he has to make supplications for the deceased. If the deceased is male he should supplicate by these words:"Allaahumma ighfir lahu warhamhu wa 'aafihi wa'fu 'anhu, wa akrim nuzulahu wa wassi madkhalahu waghsilhu bil-maa wath-thalji wal-barad, wa naqqihi minal-khataaya kama yunaqqath-thawb al-abyadhu min ad-danas. Allaahumma abdilhu daaran khayran min daarihi wa ahlan khayran min ahlihi. Allaahumma adkhilhu al-jannah wa aithhu min 'adhaabil-qabri wa min 'athaabin-naar." [Muslim](O Allaah, forgive him and have mercy on him, keep him safe and sound and pardon him, honor the place where he settles and make his entrance wide; wash him with water and snow and hail, and cleanse him of sin as a white garment is cleansed of dirt. O Allaah, give him a house better than his house and a wife better than his wife. O Allaah, admit him to Paradise and protect him from the torment of the grave and the torment of Hell-fire.)If the deceased is a female then all the pronouns should be changed according to the gender. However, some scholars believe that it is not compulsory since the praying person means the dead person regardless of the gender. Imaam As-Syooti, may Allaah have His mercy on him, is of the opinion that one should avoid saying 'And husband better than her husband' since she might be for the same husband in the Paradise. If the deceased is a child then the supplications should be made for his parents. The Prophet (saw) said: "A funeral prayer should be offered for an aborted baby, seeking for his parents the mercy and forgiveness of Allaah." [Abu Daawood]It is desirable to say: "Allahummaj 'alhu lana salafan wa faratan wa Ajran" (O Allaah, make him a preceding reward, a prepayment and a recompense for us). [Al Baihaqi] Finally, one pronounces the last fourth Takbeer and waits a moment and then finishes his prayer with one salutation towards his right side.Allaah knows best. (Source: islam_web)

Question 3259: Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
Assalamu Alaikum
My question is what exactly do you do after you complete janazza prayer(after saying salaams)? Could you please, Inshaa' Allah give your evidence(i.e.hadith type, volume #, hadith #.) Jazzak Allahu Khairun. Wa Assalam
Answer: Dear C. As-salaamu alaykum. After performing Janaza prayer, the only thing that can be done is to follow the convoy carrying the dead body until it is buried. This is confirmed in the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), reported in the collection of Muslim, when he stated: "whoever observes (witnesses/attends) the funeral proceedings until the prayer is performed, then [he gets rewarded] with one carat (qirat in Arabic is a measure for the weight of jewelry or gem. It is usually a very small amount of weight like few grams), and whoever observes (witnesses/attends) it until it is buried, then he [gets rewarded] with two carats, then he (i.e. prophet Muhammad -pbuh-) was asked and what is a Carat, he stated they are two great mountains." This means that there is a huge reward for attending a funeral, including performing the Janaza prayer, walking behind the body, and being at the burial site. While people usually think that carat is a small amount, for those who attend the funeral proceedings, the reward is great. Thank you for asking and God knows best. (Source: IslamiCity)

Janaza Prayer
Question 111864: Please tell me how to do Funeral Prayer.
Question 111864: Please tell me how to do Funeral Prayer.
Answer:
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions. The conditions which are required for a regular prayer are the same for the funeral prayer. In the funeral prayer, the Imam should stand by the chest for the male body and by the middle for the female body. The people led in prayer should stand in rows behind the Imaam and it is desirable to make many rows. The Imaam and the people led in prayer should make the intention of performing the funeral prayer, then the Imaam should say Allaahu Akbar and the people behind him should follow him. The funeral prayer is performed with four Takbeer (Allaahu Akbar). After the first Takbeer, one recites chapter Al-Faatihah, after the second Takbeer, he should read the Salat Ibraahimiyah (Allaahumma Salli 'Ala Muhammdin wa 'Ala Aali) the one recited in the second part of Tashahhud during the prayers), and after the third Takbeer, he has to supplicate for the deceased, and then he says the fourth and last Takbeer; one may and may not supplicate for the deceased (after this last Takbeer) and then concludes the prayer with one Tasleem on the right side. It is desirable to supplicate with the legislated mention confirmed from the Prophet (saw) if one memorizes it, otherwise one may supplicate with any good supplications for the dead. For more benefit, please refer to Fataawa 92312, 92191and 89073. Allaah Knows best.

Question 43935: How do we perform sallat Janaaiza
Question 43935: How do we perform sallat Janaaiza
Answer: please visit this page;
http://www.islamicity.com/mosque/janazah.htm
here is an excerpt from the above page
Prayers (Salat)
It is better that those praying divide themselves into three rows facing the qibla (Shortest distance to Makkah, Saudi Arabia) with the Imam in front.
Put the body (or bodies) in front of the Imam.
The Imam should stand at the head of the body if the deceased is a man and middle of the body if she is a woman.
If there is more than one body, then they should be put one in front of the other, those of the men nearest to the Imam and those of the women furthest from him.
Having the appropriate neeyat (intention to perform Burial Prayers) in your heart, raise your hands in the usual manner and say, Allahu Akbar.
Then fold and hold your hands on your breast in the usual manner, the right hand on the left.
Read al Fatiha quietly.
Say Allah Akbar without raising the hands.
Pray for the Prophet in the same way as you do in tashahud.
Say Allahu Akbar (do not raise your hands).
Make du'a for the deceased.
Say Allabu Akbar (do not raise your hands).
Make du'a for the Muslims.
Say Assalaamu 'Alaikum, thus finishing the prayer.
The entire burial prayer is done while one is standing, there are no raks or sujud in it.
Du'a for the deceased may be chosen from any of the prophetic du'as.

Question 122245: My wife and I are writing this letter, as we are highly concerned about the Islamic upbringing of our two boys, who are 8 and 10 years old. We live in Japan, and there are no Islamic schools for that age, so the children are attending normal Japanese schools. Our concern is that the children spend most of the day among non-Muslim children and the school curriculum is Japanese. Additionally, the Muslim community in Japan is dispersed throughout the country, which makes it very difficult for us to interact with other Muslim families. What we would like to ask is if you could suggest to us any good Islamic schools around the world where we could safely send our children to study, and those schools have dormitories. We can afford to pay the cost of tuition and accommodation. The children have Japanese citizenship, and will have no difficulty in obtaining a visa.
Answer: All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad (saw) is His slave and Messenger.
We do not know any Islamic school that teaches children at this early age. The education of your children should be under your close supervision and we advise you to do the following:
- If you can migrate from this country to a Muslim country without facing much hardship, then do so in order to educate your children in the best way. For more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 81642.
- If you are unable to migrate, then we advise you to seek the help of any available Islamic center (a Sunni center that is known for its teachings with the right Islamic Sharee’ah).
We ask Allah to guide you and us to the right path and make us all memorize the Quran and apply its teachings in our lives.

Question 104928: Assalamalaium, Theres a story about one of the companion of Prophet SAW, Jarir ibn Al Bajali about being a sincere well wisher for every muslim..the story is that once he sends his servant to buy a horse..The servant makes a deal for 300 dhs but he ends up purchasing it for 800 dhs because he realized that the seller had undervalued and he wanted to be fair and his sincere to him.Could you please provide a reference for this story/ confirm if this is a true story.
Answer: All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger. This story was mentioned by An-Nawawi in his commentary on Saheeh Muslim as he said: "In regard to the Hadeeth about Jareer it is a virtue and a noble deed from him, which was reported by Al-Haafith Abu Al-Qaasim At-Tabaraani with its chain of narrators. Its summary is that Jareer ordered his servant to buy a horse for him, so he bought one for him for 300 Dirhams, and he came with the horse along with its owner so that Jareer would pay him its price. So, Jareer told the owner of the horse: "Your horse is worth more than 300 Dirhams" to the end of the story which is also mentioned in Fat-h Al-Baari by Ibn Hajar and in other books.Allaah Knows best. Jareer Al-Bajali, the Companion with the beautiful features
Question 104930: which of prophets' companion did prophet Muhammad(SAW) compare with Yusuf (AS)?
Question 104930: which of prophets' companion did prophet Muhammad(SAW) compare with Yusuf (AS)?
Answer: All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger. We do not know of any Companion whom the Prophet (saw) likened to the Prophet Yoosuf (Joseph) ; but the person who was described by some Companions to be the Yoosuf of this nation is Jareer ibn 'Abdullaah Al-Bajali as he was one of the most beautiful men. When he came as a Muslim from Yemen, the Prophet (saw) said about him: "Someone will enter upon you from this door (or from this path) who is the best of the people of Yemen as he has an angel's visage on his face." [Ahmad - Al-Albaani classified it as Saheeh (sound)] An angel's visage means a sense of beauty because the angels are described to be beautiful and when people were to describe someone as beautiful, they would liken him to the angels. Ath-Thahabi narrated in his book As-Siyar, from Abu 'Uwaanah, from 'Abdul Malik ibn 'Umayr, from Ibraaheem ibn Jareer that 'Umar said: "Jareer is the Yoosuf of this nation." Ath-Thahabi also narrated: "From Abu Zurah, from Jareer who said: "Delegations of the Arabs would come to the Prophet (saw) and he would send to me and I would wear my garment, and then I would come and the Prophet (saw) would be proud of me (in front of those delegations)." It was also reported that Jareer said: "The Prophet (saw) told me: "You are a man whom Allaah has created in a good form (with beautiful features), so beautify your moral character." [Al-Albaani classified this Hadeeth as Dhaeef (weak)].Also, Mukhtasar Ash-Shamaa'il reads: "Jareer passed by 'Umar ibn Al-Khattaab, and Jareer took off his Ridaa (upper garment) and he stayed with his Izaar (lower garment) so 'Umar told him: "Put on your Ridaa; then 'Umar said to the people: "I have never seen a man more beautiful than Jareer, except what was conveyed to us about the features of Yoosuf, the truthful." Al-Albaani said: "A very Dhaeef (weak) Hadeeth." Allaah Knows best. (Source: islam_web)

Question 117399: i got married to a second wife recently and my first wife had trouble accepting it and she said that although she would stay she'd never be happy for us. it was calm for a year and 3 month but now she's acting crazy. on my day with her, i told her that my second wife was pregnant. she got angry and said why are you telling me this just rub it in my face that you love her more than me. i was shocked and left to calm her down. now my second wife and i have 4 children, 2 less than my first wife's six children. sometimes, my second wife and i have to work and my first wife's children are at school and it is hard for us to find a babysitter. yesterday we left our children in front of her door and told her to watch them in a kind way. we came back at the same time to find them standing outside of her doorstep and discovered that she had never let them in to begin with. i concealed my anger and consoled my second wife and on my day with her, i scolded her for her behavior. she was very angry with me and screamed at me for what she called being disrespectful and arrogant towards her and threatened to cut my other wife's face with glass is she brought her kids to her door. she said the only way she'd let them in is if we each paid her 15K, bc that's how much her former job paid her. i think she's being unnecessarily bitter. what should i do?
Answer: All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad (saw) is His slave and Messenger. It is obvious and not surprising for a woman to be jealous over her co-wife. Hence, the husband should be wise in his statements and actions, so he should avoid anything that can be misunderstood by his wife and which will provoke her feelings, especially what is not needed, such as you informing your first wife that your second wife has become pregnant. There is no reason for saying it and no benefit. Therefore, the reaction of your first wife is not surprising. Since your first wife is jealous to this extent, it is not expected that she will receive your children from your second wife in her home, and she is not Islamically obliged to do so. Therefore, if there is no institution that may take care of your children, then let your second wife stay at home and take care of her own children. If your first wife agrees to take care of them in return for a fee, then this is acceptable and it should be according to an agreement between both of you. Nonetheless, your first wife has no right to scream at you. Such a behavior is considered a rebellion and disobedience from her and she is sinful for it. Also, it is not permissible for her to harm your second wife with any kind of harm, otherwise she would be unjust. In any case, we emphasize what we have already stated that you should be wise in dealing with your wives and be patient with their conduct resulting from jealousy. For more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 233902. Allah knows best. (Source: islam_web)

Question 119664: Assalamu Alaykom, May Allah reward you & us jannah al ferdaws. I know that jealousy between the spouses is something normal but for the benefits of others pls explain to me if it is SHIRK because a husband forbade his other wife for getting jealous because he said it is shirk. is it so?
Answer: All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad (saw) is His slave and Messenger. What that person said that jealousy is Shirk is not correct; for more benefit on the definition of Shirk, please refer to Fataawa 82456 and 85291. A wife being jealous of the other wives of her husband is something natural as the wives of the Prophet (saw) used to be jealous about him. However, if jealousy exceeds its limits of moderation, then it is dispraised especially if it leads to something forbidden like injustice and transgression; for more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 90757.Allaah Knows best. Question 122719: Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu, Shaykh. What is the ruling on wearing jeans clothing for men and for women? I do not mean wearing jeans pants, but the clothing material in itself. For example, there are jeans ladies' winter jackets, other jackets, jeans hand bags, and so on. Please advise about the jeans material. Also, is there a difference between men's jeans material and that of women? May Allaah reward you, Shaykh.
Answer: All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger. The jeans material is like any other material from which clothing is manufactured; the basic principle is that all materials are lawful for both men and women (unless proven otherwise by Sharia evidence). Allah, The Exalted, reminds His slaves of the blessings that He has conferred upon them, and this indicates that they are all lawful.Allah, The Exalted, says (what means): {It is He Who created for you all of that which is on the earth. Then He directed Himself to the heaven (His being above all creation) and made them seven heavens, and He is Knowing of all things.} [Quran 2:29] Shaykh 'Abd Ar-Rahmaan As-Sa'di wrote, "It means that Allah has created for you out of His mercy and kindness to you all that which is on the earth to benefit of, enjoy, and to take lessons. This verse proves that the basic principle is that all things are pure and lawful because the context in which the verse comes reminds people of the divine bounties and blessings that Allah, The Exalted, has conferred upon Mankind..."This basic principle applies to all types of materials except for what has been excluded by Sharia evidence. Jeans clothing is not unique for men; it is allowable for both men and women to wear it.It should be noted that the Muslim woman is free to wear whatever clothes she wants outdoors provided that she abides by the relevant Sharia provisions for the women's dress such as being loose-fitting and not tight-fitting, not outlining her body, being thick and not see-through, not being an adornment in and of itself, and the like of the specifications of the Islamic dress code for women, as underlined by scholars. Jeddah is not within the boundaries of the sacred precincts
Question 113869: Are inhabitants of Jeddah considered to be living in the Sacred Precincts?
Question 113869: Are inhabitants of Jeddah considered to be living in the Sacred Precincts?
Answer: All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger. Jeddah does not lie within the boundaries of the Sacred Precincts. Consequently, the people who live in Jeddah are not living in the Sacred Precincts. Now, there are marks that distinguish the boundaries that were demarcated by Prophet Ibraaheem (Abraham) .An-Nawawi said, "There are marks established in all sides of the Sacred Precincts. Al-Azraqi and others mentioned through their chains of narrators that Prophet Ibraaheem demarcated the area and established such marks there. Jibreel (Gabriel) showed him their places. Then our Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, ordered marking them, then they were marked by 'Umar and 'Uthmaan and later on by Mu'aawiyah . They are still visible until now- all perfect praise is due to Allaah." Allaah Knows best. (Source: islam_web)

Question 101981: My question is about a friend who informed me that she goes to church to attend lectures about the way to raise children. Without attending these lectures, they do not accept her subscription to take assistance for her young children such as food, toys, clothes and requirements from the things that the Christian people donate to their church. My answer to her was that her deed is impermissible especially that she is not needy at all. My reply to her was based on the fact that she is not in financial need and the fact that this assistance is from the church. Is what I based my reply on correct or did I give an incorrect opinion?
Answer: All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger. Attending lectures in churches for the sake of obtaining financial or in-kind assistance is impermissible because this is a bribe to call Muslims to Christianity. This is clear from your words. Without these lectures, she is not allowed to take the assistance. There is no doubt that going to churches, sitting with the Christians and listening to priests will eliminate the creed of loyalty for Muslims and dissociation from the disbelievers, love and hate for the sake of Allaah The Almighty especially that these lectures are about upbringing. There is no doubt that upbringing for those people is different from upbringing for Muslims. You should advise this woman not to go to this church and explain to her that she is jeopardizing her religion to obtain a few pennies and that she should abstain from accepting such assistance as long as she does not need it. If she is needy, she should ask the Muslims first. The Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, said: "Whoever abstains from begging, Allaah The Almighty Will Suffice him." [Al-Bukhari] He, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, also said: "If a slave resorts to begging, Allaah The Almighty Paves his way to poverty"Allaah Knows best. (Source: islam_web)

Answer: Dear A. Greetings from Islamicitys Imam. Jerusalem cannot be the cradle of all religions because some religions in the world have no relationship with Jerusalem. However, it is a very important place for the Monotheistic religions. Please note that when Muslims controlled the city, all Jews, Christians, and Muslims had free access to it. It was only after 1967, when Israel controlled the city, that the restriction was put on certain groups of people to visit it. Thank you for asking and God knows best. (Source: IslamiCity)

Question 5638: Dear Iman,
Here is what I have found on a site...please comment.
Thank you very much
Mohammad died, was buried and is dust. God gave no testimony that He sent him or that he was His messenger or that putting your trust in him will save you and give you eternal life. God did however testify that Jesus was from Him and that Jesus' words are His words to man when He raised Jesus' physical body from the dead. In fact Paul said that those who reject Jesus as Savior and Lord will not only not be saved but will instead in the day of God's judgment of man be judged by Jesus Christ Himself and that His physical resurrection from the dead is God's proof to us concerning this absolute truth. Paul said in Acts 17:30-31,
"Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead." (Acts 17:30-31)
Answer: In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
We commend your keenness on getting your self well-acquainted with Islam and its teachings, and we implore Allah Almighty to help us serve His cause and render our work for His Sake.
Almighty Allah says:
". Muhammad (peace be upon him) is not the father of any man among you, but he is the Messenger of Allh and the last (end) of the Prophets. And Allh is Ever AllAware of everything. "(33:40)
God has given testimony in several places in the Quran that Muhammad(pbuh) is a messsenger. Also Jesus(pbuh) did so:
" And (remember) when 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), said: "O Children of Israel! I am the Messenger of Allh unto you confirming the Taurt [(Torah) which came] before me, and giving glad tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmed. But when he (Ahmed i.e. Muhammad Sal-Allaahu 'alayhe Wa Sallam) came to them with clear proofs, they said: "This is plain magic." "(60:6)
Ponder on the following verses of Holy Quran from chapter 5:
"116. And (remember) when Allh will say (on the Day of Resurrection): "O 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)! Did you say unto men: 'Worship me and my mother as two gods besides Allh?' " He will say: "Glory be to You! It was not for me to say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, You would surely have known it. You know what is in my innerself though I do not know what is in Yours, truly, You, only You, are the AllKnower of all that is hidden and unseen.
117. "Never did I say to them aught except what You (Allh) did command me to say: 'Worship Allh, my Lord and your Lord.' And I was a witness over them while I dwelt amongst them, but when You took me up, You were the Watcher over them, and You are a Witness to all things. Question 103726: What is the evidence in Qur'an and Sunnah about the coming of Jesus (Alaihi al-Salaam) and Dajjal? What is the meaning of the word "Maseeh" as this word has been used for both Jesus and Dajjal? Many are saying that America is Dajjal. Does the word "Maseeh al-Dajjal" apply to America? Also Hadith say that Dajjal is one-eyed. I hope you will answer these questions.
Answer:
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the World; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. Please, read Fatwa No: 82061 and 82052 for information about the descent of Jesus on earth and the coming of al-Dajjal (Anti-Christ).As for the meaning of the word Messiah, scholars differ about using such a word both for Jesus and al-Dajjal.The word Messiah is used with the name of Prophet Jesus (Alaihi al-Salaam) to mean:1) One does not live in some house, one who goes from one place to another.2) One who cures sick people by rubbing over them.3) The anointed one.4) One whose beauty is plain.5) One who is sinless. The same word (i.e. Messiah) is used with the name of al-Dajjal to mean:1) The one-eyed.2) The one who roams the earth, except Makka, al-Madinah and Jerusalem.N.B.:- Please, consult Tafsir al-Qurtubi volume 4, Page-89.The statement: "al-Dajjal has only one eye" is recorded in a Hadith in al-Bukhari.Allah knows best. Jesus as son of God
Question 104406: What is the stand of Islam on the assertion of Christians that Prophet Isah (Alaihi Salam) is the son of God?
Question 104406: What is the stand of Islam on the assertion of Christians that Prophet Isah (Alaihi Salam) is the son of God?
Answer: Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, and blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. Allah describes in Quran the enormity of the sin committed by Christians after Jesus, Allah Says (meaning): "Surely, they have disbelieved who say: "Allah is the Messiah ['Iesa (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary)." But the Messiah ['Iesa (Jesus)] said: "O Children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Verily, whosoever sets up partners in worship with Allah, then Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrongdoers) there are no helpers. Will they not repent to Allah and ask His Forgiveness? For Allah is OftForgiving, Most Merciful. The Messiah ['Iesa (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary), was no more than a Messenger; many were the Messengers that passed away before him. His mother [Maryam (Mary)] was a Siddiqah [i.e. she believed in the words of Allah and His Books (see Verse 66:12)]. They both used to eat food (as any other human beings, while Allah does not eat). Look how We make the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) clear to them, yet look how they are deluded away (from the truth). It is very far from logic to make a messenger (Prophet) A God, who is born and had the qualities of mankind. How he would be a creator of the world. So Allah threaten them: "Say (O Muhammad):" How do you worship besides Allah some thing which has no power either to harm or to benefit you? . But it is Allah who is the ALL-Hearer, All knower:" He was nothing but a chosen man for guiding people towards Allah. He did not claim that he was God or Son of God. All these are false beliefs. Question 2693: I am from a christian upbringing and believe that Jesus is the son of God, I do not, however, belive that he is God or is to be worshiped. I know God didn't have sex
with Mary, but who are we to tell God he can't have a son. I believe in the five pillars of Islam and the Koran. My problem is I believe man puts things in religious
books that he thinks God wants. Parts of the bible and Koran tend to contradict one another in reguards to Christ even in the sections the Koran says are good. God is
not the author of confusion, only man is! My question is this...can I be Muslim and still belive in Christ even though I don't worship him and feel Christians are wrong
and confused? I seem to fall between Christianity and Islam...what can I do?
Answer: Dear R. Greetings from Islamicity's Imam. Every Muslim believes in Jesus Christ (peace be upon him). But Muslims believe that Jesus Christ was a great prophet and a messenger of God and NOT the son of God in any way. While you seem to be wondering how Jesus Christ could be born without a father, you ought to wonder even more about how prophet Adam (peace be upon him) was born without a father nor a mother. But nowhere in Islamic or Christian sources is there reference to prophet Adam being the "son of God". Therefore, you cannot be a Muslim and believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God. You have to believe that he was a human being and when God ordained that Jesus shall be born, He (God) said "Be" and he (Jesus) was created. Please refer to the Qur'an in Surah Maryam 19 verses 16 to 40, with special emphasis on verses 21, 30, 35. Also, refer to the Qur'an to the whole Surah al-Ikhlas (112). You are correct about the issue that men make mistakes and God doesn't, therefore basing your belief on this fact, the Qur'an, which is the un-tampered Word of God, couldn't contain any mistakes. Thank you for asking and God knows best. (Source: IslamiCity)

Jesus did not die, was risen alive
Question 104329: If Jesus is just a prophet, how did he die on the cross and rise? Why does the Bible say that He said that the He was the Son of God?
Question 104329: If Jesus is just a prophet, how did he die on the cross and rise? Why does the Bible say that He said that the He was the Son of God?
Answer:
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.Jesus, son of Mary, is the slave of Allah and His word to Mary. He is not God, neither is he the son of God. There are many verses in the Quran proving this fact.Allah says: { And there is none of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), but must believe in him ['Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), as only a Messenger of Allah and a human being],[] before his ['Iesa (Jesus) or a Jew's or a Christian's] death[] (at the time of the appearance of the angel of death).} [4:159] When the Jews and the Roman's emporor plotted to kill Jesus. Allah made one of the people present similar in everything to Jesus. So, they killed the man who looked like Jesus. They did not kill Jesus. Jesus was raised alive to the Heavens. Allah says: {And because of their saying (in boast), "We killed Messiah 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), the Messenger of Allah," - but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but the resemblance of 'Iesa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man), and those who differ therein are full of doubts. They have no (certain) knowledge, they follow nothing but conjecture. For surely; they killed him not [i.e. 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)} [4:157]He will come back to earth before the Day of Judgement and will establish Islamic Sharia.Allah says: {O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians)! Do not exceed the limits in your religion, nor say of Allah aught but the truth. The Messiah 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), was (no more than) a Messenger of Allah and His Word, ("Be!" - and he was) which He bestowed on Maryam (Mary) and a spirit (Ruh)[] created by Him; so believe in Allah and His Messengers. Say not: "Three (trinity)!" Cease! (it is) better for you. For Allah is (the only) One Ilah (God), Glory be to Him (Far Exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is Allsufficient as a Disposer of affairs.} [4:171]Al- Bukhari and Muslim reported that 'the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: " Allah's Apostle said, "By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, son of Mary (Jesus) will shortly descend amongst you people (Muslims) as a just ruler and will break the cross and kill the pig and abolish the Jizya (a tax taken from the non-Muslims who are in the protection of the Muslim government). Then there will be abundance of money and nobody will accept charitable gifts." He will stay for 40 years. Then Allah will make him die and this is his death. So, Jesus (saw) was not crucified nor was he killed. In fact, he did not die. He is still alive thanks to the power of Allah the Almighty. If we imagine that Jesus was killed, then crucified, then raised up, there is no evidence in this proving that he was God or a son of God. This is clear to anyone who accepts that Allah, the Almighty, is able to do anything He wishes and that when He wants something, He says to it: {Be and it happens immediately} .As for your asking about why the Bible says that he is the son of Allah, the answer is that the books of the people of scripture have been altered and modified. Things were added to the Bible and things were taken from it. Any claim that Jesus is a son of Allah is a fabrication because the authentic Injeel, later destroyed, which was first revealed to Jesus did not include any such lies.Allah knows best (Source: islam_web)

Question 104108: assalam wa alykum there is a muslim group living in india who say that a)in surah imran ayat no.144/145 it is said that all prophets are dead (including Isa(AS)). b)in surah jumah ayat no. 3/4 it is said that our prophet(SAW) will come. how can be these people replied?
Answer:
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad (saw) is His slave and Messenger. It is not correct to say that our Prophet (saw) will come back at the end of times, and no scholar has ever said this. Allaah Says (what means): {And [to] others of them who have not yet joined them. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. That is the bounty of Allaah, which He gives to whom He wills, and Allaah is the possessor of great bounty.} [Quran 62:3-4] The above verses from Chapter Al-Jumuah (Quran 62) do not mean that our Prophet (saw) will come back at the end of times. Some interpreters of the Quran stated that the verses refer to the Taabieen (the generations which followed the generation of the companions), and it is a praise for those who will come after the Prophet (saw) and his companions and who will follow their guidance. Some other interpreters of the Quran stated that it refers to the believers until the Day of Judgment. The verse in Chapter Al-Jumuah is like the saying of Allaah (which means): {And the first to embrace Islam of the Muhaajiroon (those who migrated from Makkah to Madeenah) and the Ansaar (the citizens of Madeenah who helped and gave aid to the Muhaajireen) and also those who followed them exactly (in Faith). Allaah is well-pleased with them as they are well-pleased with Him.}[Quran 9:100]As regards 'Eesa (Jesus) there is evidence that he is alive and that he will descend at the end of times as a just ruler, he is an exception to the general meaning of the Saying of Allaah (which means): {Muhammad (saw) is not but a messenger. [Other] messengers have passed on before him. So if he was to die or be killed, would you turn back on your heels [to unbelief]? And he who turns back on his heels will never harm Allaah at all; but Allaah will reward the grateful.} [Quran 3:144] 'Eesa will die after that, and so, he also has his appointed time when he will die but this has not yet come. The verse 145 of Chapter 3 [Aal-'Imraan] (which means) {And it is not [possible] for one to die except by permission of Allaah at a decree determined. And whoever desires the reward of this world- We will give him thereof; and whoever desires the reward of the Hereafter- We will give him thereof. And We will reward the grateful.} Is evidence that each person will die when his appointed time comes. For more benefit, please refer to Fataawa 87745, 85366 and 84206. Allaah Knows best. Jesus is neither God nor son of God

Question 104281: I need important verses of Bible to make my friend understand that Jesus is not a god but he is a Messenger of God. Please send me some important verses from Bible.
Answer: All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
First of all you have to know that the Bible is a compilation of books that have been forged, falsified and tempered with. The evidence about this is the numerous contradictions between various accounts in the Bible. But the Bible still contains some true texts, like giving glad tidings about the coming of another Prophet, who was Muhammad (saw) and that Jesus ('Eesaa) is a slave and servant of Allaah, and not the son of Allaah as they claim.
Ibn Al-Qayyim stated some of these contradictions, like: The Gospel according to Mark: "A man came to the Messiah and said: "O, good teacher! What good deed shall I do to obtain eternal life? So the Messiah replied: "Why do you call me good? No one is good, except One- that is God." (Mark 10:18) So the man did not address the Messiah as God.
The Gospel according to John:
"Jesus said these things, and lifting up his eyes to heaven, he said, “Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may also glorify you; even as you gave him authority over all flesh, he will give eternal life to all whom you have given him. This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ." (John:17:1-3)
The Gospel according to Mathew:
"Call no man on the earth your father, for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. And don’t be called teachers: for one is your teacher, the Christ." (Mathew 23:10)
Ibn Al-Qayyim said, 'In their language the father means the educator and guardian who educates and takes care of someone.'
There are lots of texts in this regard but this is not the place to discuss them all. However, we refer you to an important website where all answers could be found to convince a non-Muslim that Jesus is neither God nor son of God, giving evidences from the Bible. We also refer you to the writings of Ahmad Deedaat a renowned scholar who specialized in the comparative study of Christianity and Islam.

Question 104241: I never believed in the trinity, that Jesus is God. I however did believe that Jesus is the son of God and that he was the first of all Gods creations in the heavens before all other creations. And that Jesus willingly came down to the earth to give his life as a sacrifice for our sins. To buy back the life that Adam lost for us. We know that Adam was created perfect like all of Allaah's creations and became imperfect when he sinned against God. We are now all sinners because we came from Adam. Please show me how it could be logically shown that Jesus did not exist before coming to the earth. And the fact that he did not have a human father, that would mean that he was born without sin? Our sin came through Adam not Eve. This is a sincere question that I have been pondering for some time now. If you would please help me out with this I would deeply appreciate it. Thank you so much and I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Answer:
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions. Indeed you did well by not believing in the trinity or that 'Eesaa (Jesus) was God. This is something which is logically impossible to believe in [and no one with a sound mind and reason would believe in it]. The pioneers of these false ideologies do not have any evidence proving them and they get very disturbed and frustrated when they are asked to interpret them. It is very strange that you do not believe in the trinity nor that 'Eesaa (Jesus) was God, yet, you believe that he was the Son of God and that he was the first of God's creation; what is your evidence on this? Indeed whoever claims something is required to provide evidence, however, a claim cannot be taken as evidence. We do not think that you have any evidence from the texts of revelations or any logical evidence which proves this. In reality there is no evidence on it, as this is something logically impossible. So how could it be possible that God could have a son, as He is the Almighty, the Creator of everything, Who is controlling the whole universe, Who comprehends all things in His Knowledge and has the power over all things, and Who is not in need of His Creation but all His Creation depend on Him, an Who has other Attributes than those mentioned above. Did He really need to have a son? If it is the case [if He needs a son], this means that He is not Perfect and He is deficient, and a real God is high above this. If 'Eesaa (Jesus) was really the son of God, how can God leave him to be crucified as the Christians claim? God has power over everything, so He could prevent His Son [as the Christians claim] from being crucified. As regards your statement that we inherited our sins from Aadam this is an injustice to him, as he repented from his sin and God forgave him. So no one inherited his sin. Even if we presume that he did not repent from his sin- and this never happened- with what fault would billions of people inherit this sin? This is an injustice upon which God is High Above. Therefore, you should not believe in some creeds and disbelieve in others. Since you did not believe in the trinity or that 'Eesaa (Jesus) was God, then you should disbelieve in all those false creeds and believe in Allaah Alone, the Self Sufficient Master whom all creatures need (He neither eats nor drinks), He neither begets nor was He begotten, and there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him. You should use your sound mind and reason and leave aside your desires, and sincerely seek the truth, only the truth. Besides, you should keep contact with the nearest Islamic centre to you or with Islamic sites which spread Islam, you should ponder about the Islamic creed which is based on the Oneness of Allaah. There is no doubt that if you do so without any prejudice, then you will not be happy and live in peace and tranquillity unless you sincerely testify to the Oneness of Allaah as He is the Only True God.For more benefit, please refer to Fataawa 88187 and 85366. Jesus's Return before the Day of Judgement
Question 103727: What is the proof from sahih hadith and Qur'an that Jesus will return before judgment day ? Does it make any difference if he is dead now or alive?
Question 103727: What is the proof from sahih hadith and Qur'an that Jesus will return before judgment day ? Does it make any difference if he is dead now or alive?
Answer: All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad (saw) is His slave and Messenger.
1 - Allah Says (what means): {And [for] their saying, "Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah." And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain. Rather, Allah raised him to Himself. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise. And there is none from the People of the Scripture but that he will surely believe in Jesus before his death. And on the Day of Resurrection he will be against them a witness.} [Quran 4:157-159]
2 – Jesus's return before the Day of Judgement has ample evidence in the Sunnah. Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet (saw) said: “(I swear) By him in whose hands my soul is, son of Mary (Jesus) will shortly descend amongst you people (Muslims) as a just ruler and will break the Cross and kill the pig and abolish the Jizyah (a tax taken from the non-Muslims, who are in the protection of the Muslim government), then there will be abundance of money and nobody will accept charitable gifts.” [Al-Bukhari]
Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet (saw) said: “(I swear) By him in whose hand is my life, Ibn Maryam would certainly pronounce the Talbiyah for Hajj or for ‘Umrah or for both in the valley of Rawhaa.” These texts clearly indicate that ‘Eesa (Jesus) would descend on earth, and he would implement the Islamic rulings, and he will fight against the present Idolatrous Christianity. The most correct evidence shows that he is still alive, has not yet died, after Almighty Allah rescued him from the guilty Jews, such as in a Hadeeth, reported by Imams Ahmad, Ibn Abu Shaybah, Abu Daawood, Ibn Jareer and Ibn Hibbaan. Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet (saw) said: “He will stay forty years on earth, then he will die and Muslims will pray on him, and they will bury him beside our Messenger Muhammad (saw) .” [Ahmad and Muslim]
Dear brother, you may note a point in all these Ahadeeth that the Prophet (saw) said: “He will descend”, he did not say “He will rise from death”; that means that he is still alive and not dead.
For more benefit that Jesus was not crucified, please refer to Fataawa 89547, 87468, 88424, 85366, 87642, 84001 and 87745.

Question 104255: As Muslims we know that Jesus was not crucified on the cross, but a likeness of him instead. How were the people present there supposed to know that it was not Jesus? They would've assumed that it was Jesus.
Answer:
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions. The disciples of 'Eesaa (Jesus) knew that the one who was crucified was not him. Adh-Dhahhak said: 'The story was that when the Jews wanted to kill 'Eesaa he entered to the disciples and there were twelve of them and he asked them: "Who amongst you would go out and be killed and he will be with me in Paradise?' The narrator related the whole story. The same story was narrated by Ibn 'Abbaas so the disciples who were with 'Eesaa knew for certain that he was not killed and that he was taken up to the heavens. Even those who killed the person on the cross doubted that it was the Messiah. Allaah says (which means): {For surely; they killed him not [i.e. 'Eesaa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary).}[4:157]. Ibn Katheer interpreted the verse to mean that they were not certain that they killed 'Eesaa but they doubted about him. He interpreted the following verse: {but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but the resemblance of 'Eesaa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man).}[4:157]. He said: 'The disciples who were inside the house saw 'Eesaa when he was lifted. Apart from them, all other people thought the same way as the Jews thought, that the one who was crucified was the Messiah, son of Maryam (Mary), may Allaah exalt their mention. They also mentioned that Maryam, may Allaah exalt her mention, sat down under the person who was crucified and wept, Allaah knows best. All this, is a test from Allaah to his slaves, as in this there is a great wisdom.' The conclusion from all of this is that not all the people who were at that time believed that the Messiah was crucified. Saying that they must have believed that it was the Messiah who was crucified is not an absolute statement. Anyway, whoever the following verse has reached: "but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but the resemblance of 'Eesaa (Jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man)", and still believes that the person who was crucified was the Messiah, is a non-Muslim and a disbeliever in Allaah as he is belying the Qur'an. Jesus: what does Islam say about him?
Question 80: What is the Islamic position on Jesus Christ?
Question 80: What is the Islamic position on Jesus Christ?
Answer: Dear J: Greetings..,
Islam considers Jesus as one of the main Prophets or Messengers of God. He is beloved by all Muslims and respected the same way the other Prophets, i.e. Muhammad, Moses, Ibrahim, etc, are. However, in Islam Jesus is not considered God or Son of God as in Christianity. He is viewed as a human who was created by God, born without a father from the virgin Mary as a miracle from God, and chosen by God to be a Messenger to the Children of Israel.. Islam does not agree with the concept that he was crucified, died for people sins, or resurrected. Thank you.

Question 102247: When 'Eesa (Jesus), may Allaah exalt his mention, descends at the end of time and meets the Anti-Christ, will there be technology, either military or another kind ?
Answer:
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad (saw) is His slave and Messenger. Many Hadeeths state that at the end of time people will ride on horses and fight with swords and spears. One of these Hadeeths states that 'Eesaa will kill the Anti-Christ with a spear. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] However, it is not known whether these Hadeeths indicate a literal meaning and that todays technology will come to an end at some point before the descent of 'Eesaa or that the Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam , was merely explaining these events in a language that his listeners could understand, where horses could refer to the means of transport and swords and spears could indicate the machinery of war. Scholars have two opinions on this topic because the issue is very complex, but the matter can only really be interpreted when it actually takes place.Allaah Knows best. (Source: islam_web)

Question 123188: I have recently read in a book by Shaykh Al-Albaani that it is impermissible for men to wear any type of rings or jewelry regardless of what it is made of (I am aware that it is not permissible for men to wear gold). Also, the book stated that it was not permissible for women to wear rings or any other type of jewelry made of gold. Is this true? If so or if not, please give evidence of this from Qur'aan and/or Hadeeth.
Answer: All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alyhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger. Muslim scholars have agreed that wearing golden rings is forbidden for men. They have disagreed about wearing a silver ring, an iron ring and the like. The most correct opinion is that it is allowed. The evidence for that is the narration that the Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam , wore a silver ring on his hand. [Muslim] Some scholars even believe that it is Sunnah to wear a silver ring. As for the iron ring, a narration reads that the Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, said to a person: "Search for something (to wear on your finger), even if it be an iron ring." [Al-Bukhari] As for the other narration reported by Imaams Abu-Daawood and At-Tirmithi that the Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, said to a person who was wearing a iron ring: "Why is it that I see you wearing the adornment of the inhabitants of Hell?" Then it is a weak narration. As for women wearing ring-shaped golden ornaments, it is permissible according to the texts that allow wearing gold for women in general. Allaah Says (what means): {So is one brought up in ornaments while being during conflict un-evident [attributed to Allaah]?}[Quran 43:18] The word ornaments mentioned in the verse includes golden and other kinds of ornaments. Ibn Maajah reported that the Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, once held silk in his left hand and gold in his right hand and said: "Both of these are prohibited to the males of my nation and lawful for females." Some scholars believe there is consensus upon this ruling. Those scholars who do not agree with the opinion of Shaykh Al-Albaani which is contrary to this say that the texts he relied upon are either weak, abrogated, or contrary to the other sound narrations. Jewelry made from shells
Question 123199: Is it permissible to wear jewelry that is adorned with cowrie shells? What about regular seashells?
Question 123199: Is it permissible to wear jewelry that is adorned with cowrie shells? What about regular seashells?
Answer:
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions It is permissible for a woman to wear whatever jewelry she likes as long as she is not extravagant, whether it is gold or silver or else, and whether they are adorned with cowrie shells or else, or not adorned at all. Allaah says: (interpretation of the meaning): {It is He Who has created for you all things that are on earth; .}[2:29]. The Prophet (saw) said about gold and silk: "These two things are prohibited for the males of my nation and permissible for its females." [Ibn Maajah]. The Prophet (saw) also said: "Wearing silk and gold has been made lawful for the females of my nation and unlawful for its males." So it is forbidden for men to wear gold as the Prophet (saw) said: "Unlawful for its males." However, it is permissible for men to wear silver rings, as Anas said that the Prophet (saw) "Wore a silver ring in his right hand." [Muslim]Nevertheless, the people of knowledge differed in opinion regarding a man wearing precious jewelry other than gold and silver. The sound opinion is that it is disliked because this can be considered as imitating women and being extravagant, while "The Prophet (saw) cursed men who imitate women." [Al-Bukhari]. It may even be forbidden if by wearing jewelry a man really imitates women or imitates the dissolute and corrupt people. Allaah knows best. (Source: islam_web)

about Islam
Question 93732: Hi.
I live in a Jew house, but for a long time I'm learning about the islam and the quran.
I think the Islam the the right way, and want to learn more about it and maybe to become a
muslim....
Question 93732: Hi.
I live in a Jew house, but for a long time I'm learning about the islam and the quran.
I think the Islam the the right way, and want to learn more about it and maybe to become a
muslim. What to do?
Answer:
Praise be to Allah.
You may be a young man for whom Allaah wills
good. We admire you because, although you live in a Jewish family, you have been reading
about Islam and the Quraan for some time, and you think that Islam is the true
religion. All of this is a great achievement and an important step, for which you deserve
to be encouraged. Your search for the truth at your age shows that your reasoning is
strong and that your thinking is correct. So we congratulate you for the way in which you
are thinking, and advise you to read more and to look at good Islamic sites on the
Internet. On this site you will find a lot of information and answers to questions from
people whose circumstances are similar to yours. Now let us look at the story of a Jewish
youth who lived at the time of the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad
(peace and blessings of
Allaah be upon him):
From Anas (may Allh be pleased with him): a young man from among the Jews used to serve
the Messenger of Allaah
(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). The boy became
sick, and the Prophet
(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came to visit him
when he was on his death-bed. He called him to Islam, and the boy looked at his father,
who was standing by his head. His father said, Listen to Abul-Qaasim.
[Abul-Qaasim (Father of al-Qaasim) was the kunya or nickname of the
Prophet
(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) it is an Arab custom to
address people as Father of and Mother of their oldest son
Translator]. So the boy became Muslim, then he died. The Messenger of Allaah
(peace
and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came away from him saying, Praise be to Allaah
Who has saved him from the Hell-Fire. (Reported by Imaam Ahmad, 12896; also narrated
in Saheeh al-Bukhaari, 1268). So go ahead and embrace Islam as your predecessor
did, so that you will be saved from Hell and will earn the victory of Paradise as great as
the heavens and the earth.
We also want to present you with the following story which contains an important lesson
and a moving account of a young man who looked for the truth, and was helped by Allaah to
find it:
Haddaab ibn Khaalid told us, Hammaad ibn Salamah told us, Thaabit told us from Abd
al-Rahmaan ibn Abi Layla from Suhayb that the Messenger of Allaah
(peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: There was a king among the people who came
before you who had a magician. When the magician grew old, he said to the king, I
have grown old, so send me a boy to whom I can teach magic. So the king sent him a
boy, and he taught him magic. On his way, the boy passed by a monk, so he sat with him and
listened to him, and he liked what he said. When he came to the magician, he passed by the
monk and sat with him, then when he came to the magician, he hit him because he was late.
The boy complained about that to the monk, who said, If you are afraid of the
magician, tell him, I was late because of my family and if you are afraid of
your family, tell them, I was late because of the magician. Whilst this was
going on, he came across a huge beast that was blocking the peoples way. He
said, Today I will know whether the monk is better or the magician. He picked
up a stone and said, O Allh, if the monks way is dearer to you than the
magicians way, then kill this beast so that the people may go on their way.
Then he threw the stone and killed the beast, and the people went on their way. He came to
the monk and told him what had happened. The monk said to him, O my son, today you
are better than I, you have reached such a level and now you will be tested. If you are
put to the test, do not tell anyone about me. The young man began to heal the blind
and the lepers, and to cure people from all kinds of sickness. One of the kings
courtiers who had become blind heard about him, so he brought him many gifts and said,
Whatever I have piled up here is for you, if you heal me. The boy said,
I do not heal anyone, it is Allaah who heals. If you believe in Allaah and call on
Allaah, He will heal you. So he believed in Allaah and and Allaah healed him. Then
he came to the king and sat with him as he had always done. The king said to him,
Who gave you back your sight? He said, My Lord. The king said,
Do you have any lord other than me? He said, My Lord and your Lord is
Allaah. So the king took him and kept touring him until he told him about the boy.
So the boy was brought to the king, who said, O my son, I have heard about your
magic, that you heal the blind and the leper, and you do such and such. The boy
said, I do not heal anyone, it is Allaah Who heals. The took him and tortured
him until he told him about the monk. The monk was brought and was told, Give up
your religion, and he refused. So a saw was brought and placed on the top of his
head, and he was cut in two. Then the kings courtier was brought and was told,
Give up your religion, and he refused. So a saw was brought and placed on the
top of his head, and he was cut in two. Then the boy was brought and was told, Give
up your religion, and he refused. The king gave him to a group of his companions and
said, Take him to such and such a mountain, and take him up the mountain. When you
reach the top of the mountain, if he gives up his religion (then leave him alone),
otherwise throw him down. So they took him up the mountain, and the boy said, O
Allaah, protect me from them in whatever manner You wish. So the mountain was shaken
and they fell down, and the boy came walking back to the king. The king asked, What
happened to your companions? He said, Allaah protected me from them.
Then the king gave him to another group of his companions, and said, Take him and
put him on a ship, then take him to the middle of the sea. If he gives up his religion
(then leave him alone), otherwise throw him overboard. So they took him and he said,
O Allaah, protect me from them in whatever manner You wish. The boat was
turned upside down and they drowned, and the boy came walking back to the king. The king
asked, What happened to your companions? He said, Allaah protected me
from them. The boy said to the king: You will not be able to kill me unless
you do what I tell you. The king said, What is that then? He said,
Gather the people together in one place and crucify me on a tree-trunk, then take an
arrow from my quiver and put it in your bow. Then say, In the name of Allaah, the
Lord of the boy and shoot me. If you do that, you will kill me. So the king
gathered the people in one place, crucified the boy on a tree-trunk, took an arrow from
his quiver and placed it in his bow. Then he said, In the name of Allaah, the Lord
of the boy and shot him. The arrow hit his temple (the side of his head), and he put
his hand on the side of his head where he had been hit, and died. The people said,
We believe in the Lord of the boy, we believe in the Lord of the boy, we believe in
the Lord of the boy. Someone came to the king and said, Do you see what you
were afraid of? By Allh, what you were afraid of has happened to you now. So he
ordered that ditches should be dug at the intersections of the streets, and they were dug
and fires were lit in them. Then he said, Whoever does not give up his religion,
throw him into them or it was said, Throw yourselves in. They did this
until they came to a woman who had a baby with her. She felt scared to throw herself in,
but the infant said to her, O mother, have patience, for you are on the right
path. (Reported by Muslim in his Saheeh, 5327).
After telling this moving story about a boy coming to know the truth and believe in it and
adhere to it, we would like to say to you if you think that your family will give you a
hard time if you become Muslim, then you can keep your Islam secret and do your prayers in
secret, until Allaah finds a way for you, for He will find the best way for you. We
welcome you as a reader and questioner, and as a future brother in Islam, in sha Allaah.
