Sahih Muslim 1073a (Book 12, Hadith 220) #9619
Gratitude for Small Gifts and Charity

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught us to be grateful for even the smallest of gifts and that charity should reach its intended destination.

Juwayriya, the wife of the Messenger of Allah " said that Messenger of Allah came to her and said: Is there anything to eat? She said: Messenger of Allah, I swear by God, there is no food with us except a bone of goat which my freed maid-servant was given as sadaqa. Upon this he said: Bring that to me, for it (the sadaqa) has reached its destination.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about being thankful for small gifts and charity. It tells us that even if we have very little, we should still be grateful for it. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was visiting his wife Juwayriya when he asked her if there was anything to eat. She told him that they only had a bone from a goat given as sadaqa or charity. He then said that it had reached its destination, meaning it was meant to be there with them at that moment. This teaches us to appreciate what we have no matter how small it may seem because God has provided it for us in His mercy and kindness. We should also remember to give charity so others can benefit from our generosity too!
