Be generous with your wealth & resources; Help those who are less fortunate than yourself; Strive to become self-sufficient; Respect & honor the prophet & his family

This hadith, narrated by Shu'ba, states that charity is not permissible for the Prophet and his family. This means that they are not allowed to accept charity from anyone else. The reason behind this is because of their high status in society; they should be respected and honored, rather than receiving charity from others. The hadith also teaches us to be generous with our wealth and resources, as it is a sign of piety in Islam.
