Sahih Muslim 1041 (Book 12, Hadith 136) #9535
Moderation in Begging

SUMMARY: Begging for money to increase one's own wealth is not recommended and should be done in moderation.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger as saying: He who begs the riches of others to increase his own is asking only for live coals, so let him ask a little or much.

QUICK LESSONS:
Ask either a little or much depending on your needs and situation

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith, narrated by Abu Huraira, teaches us the importance of moderation when it comes to begging for money. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that those who ask others for wealth are asking for live coals, meaning that they will receive something that will burn them if they are not careful. He then advises us to ask either a little or a lot, depending on our needs and situation. This hadith encourages us to be mindful of how much we ask from others and reminds us that it is better to give than receive. It also teaches us the importance of being content with what we have and not relying too heavily on others for our financial needs.
