Riding an Unsaddled Horse

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ rode an unsaddled horse while his companions walked on foot around him.

It is reported on the authority of Jabir ibn Samura that an unsaddled horse was brought to the Prophet and he rode on it when he returned after having offered the funeral prayer of Ibn Dahdah and we walked on foot around him.

QUICK LESSONS:
Show respect for others and be humble in your actions no matter what position you hold in society.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet's humility and respect for others. It is reported that when the Prophet was returning from offering funeral prayer of Ibn Dahdah, he rode on an unsaddled horse while his companions walked on foot around him. This shows that even though the Prophet was a leader, he did not think himself to be above anyone else and showed respect to those who were walking with him by not riding a saddled horse. He also showed humility by not expecting anyone to carry him or ride with him, but instead chose to ride alone. This teaches us that we should always show respect for others and be humble in our actions no matter what position we hold in society.
