EXPLANATIONS:
During a solar eclipse, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) performed an extra special prayer. This prayer consisted of eight ruku's and four prostrations in two rak'ahs. A ruku is when one bows down with their hands on their knees while standing and a prostration is when one kneels down with their forehead touching the ground. This was reported by both Ibn 'Abbas and 'Ali who were companions of the Prophet Muhammad. It is important to remember that this extra special prayer should only be done during a solar eclipse as it is not part of regular daily prayers.
