Recitation of Surahs on Eid Celebrations

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad reciting two surahs on the occasions of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr.

'Abdullah b. 'Umar reported that (his father) 'Umar b. Khattab asked Abu Waqid al-Laithi what the Messenger of Allah used to recite on 'Id-ul-Adha and 'Id-ul-Fitr. He said: He used to recite in them:" Qaf. By the Glorious Qur'an" (Surah 1)," The Hour drew near, and the moon was rent asunder" (Surah liv).

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive to do good deeds and make use of our time wisely while we still have it here on Earth .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the Prophet Muhammad's practice of reciting two surahs during the celebrations of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr. These two Eids are important religious holidays in Islam that mark special moments in Islamic history such as Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son Ishmael for God and when Moses was saved from Pharaoh by God respectively. The Prophet Muhammad would recite Surat Al Qaf which is a chapter in the Quran that speaks about how humans should be mindful of their actions as they will be judged by God one day, as well as Surat Al Qamar which talks about how Allah will bring an end to all things eventually including time itself. By reciting these verses during these special occasions, it serves to remind Muslims that they should always strive to do good deeds so that they can be rewarded by Allah on Judgment Day while also being aware that all things must come to an end eventually so we should make use of our time wisely while we still have it here on Earth.
