Sahih Muslim 758b (Book 6, Hadith 202) #8927
Supplicating to Allah at Night

SUMMARY: Allah descends to the lowest heaven every night and calls out for people to supplicate, beg of Him, and ask for forgiveness so that He may answer them.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger as saying: Allah descends every night to the lowest heaven when one-third of the first part of the night is over and says: I am the Lord; I am the Lord: who is there to supplicate Me so that I answer him? Who is there to beg of Me so that I grant him? Who is there to beg forgiveness from Me so that I forgive him? He continues like this till the day breaks.

QUICK LESSONS:
Make du’as or ask for forgiveness before going to sleep every night.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the mercy of Allah and how He is always willing to forgive us. Every night when one third of the first part of the night is over, Allah descends from His highest heaven to the lowest heaven and calls out for people who wish to supplicate Him, beg from Him or ask for forgiveness. This shows us that no matter what we have done wrong in our lives, if we sincerely repent and ask for forgiveness then Allah will surely forgive us. We should take this opportunity every night before going to sleep by making du’as or asking for forgiveness so that we can be blessed with His mercy.
