Sahih Muslim 735a (Book 6, Hadith 145) #8870
The Prayer of the Prophet

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was informed that the prayer of a person sitting is half of the prayer, to which he replied that it is true but he himself is not like anyone else.

'Abdullah b. 'Amr reported: It was narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah had said: The prayer observed by a person sitting is half of the prayer. I came to him and found him praying in a sitting position. I placed my hand on his head. He said: O 'Abdullah b. 'Amr, what is the matter with you? I said: Messenger of Allah, it has been narrated to me that you said: The prayer of a man in a sitting position is half of the prayer, whereas you are observing prayer sitting. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Yes, it is so, but I am not like anyone amongst you.

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray regularly with humility and piety; strive for excellence in prayers; accept limitations humbly; respect those who have higher status due to their righteousness; do not consider yourself above anyone else despite your high status in society .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance and value of prayer in Islam. It was narrated to Abdullah b. 'Amr that the Messenger of Allah said that a person's prayer while sitting is half as much as when standing, however, this does not apply to him since he is not like any other person. This hadith highlights how important it is for Muslims to pray in their daily lives and how even though we are all equal before God, some people have higher status than others due to their piety and righteousness. It also shows us how we should strive for excellence in our prayers and be mindful when performing them so they can be accepted by God Almighty. Furthermore, this hadith teaches us humility; even though Prophet Muhammad was an exalted figure with many blessings from God Almighty, he still humbly accepted his limitations and did not consider himself above anyone else despite his high status in society.
