Sahih Muslim 33e (Book 5, Hadith 331) #8642
Ablution and Prayer with the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) performed ablution with water from a bucket in the house of Mahmud b. Rabi' and then led them in two rak'ahs of prayer.

Mahmud b. Rabi' reported: I well remember the disgorge of the Messenger of Allah that he did (with water) from a bucket of our house. Mahmud said: 'Itban b. Malik narrated it to me that he had said: Messenger of Allah, I have lost my eyesight, and the rest of the hadith is the same up to these words:" He led us in two rak'ahs of prayer and we detained the Messenger of Allah for serving him the pudding that we had prepared for him," and no mention has been made of what follows next from the addition made by Yunus and Ma'mar.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of performing ablutions before prayer as taught by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). In this hadith, we learn that even though he was a guest at Mahmud's house, he still performed his ablutions using water from their bucket before leading them in two rak'ahs of prayer. This teaches us that no matter where we are or who we are with, it is important to perform our religious duties such as praying and performing ablutions beforehand. Furthermore, it also shows us how humble and kind the prophet was to his companions by taking time out of his day to lead them in prayer despite being a guest at their home.
