Sahih Muslim 620 (Book 5, Hadith 241) #8555
Prostrating on Cloth in Intense Heat

SUMMARY: It is permissible to prostrate on a cloth if it is difficult to place one's forehead on the ground.

Anas b. Malik reported: We used to say (the Noon prayer) with the Messenger of Allah in the intense heat, but when someone amongst us found it hard to place his forehead on the ground, he spread his cloth and prostrated on it.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful of your own physical limitations when performing religious duties such as prayer; Be considerate of others who may have difficulty performing certain acts due to physical or mental limitations; Spread out a cloth and prostrate upon it if you are unable to place your forehead directly onto the ground due to intense heat .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that it is permissible for Muslims to prostrate on a cloth if they are unable to place their forehead directly onto the ground due to intense heat. This hadith was narrated by Anas b. Malik, who was a companion of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and reported that during his time, people used to pray in intense heat and some found it difficult to place their foreheads directly onto the ground so they would spread out a cloth and prostrate upon it instead. This shows us that we should be mindful of our physical limitations when performing religious duties such as prayer, as Allah does not burden us with more than we can bear. We should also be considerate of others who may have difficulty performing certain acts due to physical or mental limitations, as Allah will reward us for our kindness towards them even if we cannot do what they cannot do ourselves.
