Sahih Muslim 442b (Book 4, Hadith 151) #8156
Allowing Women to Attend Mosques

SUMMARY: Women should be allowed to go to the mosque when they seek permission from their husbands.

Abdullah b. Umar reported: I heard Allah's Messenger say: Don't prevent your women from going to the mosque when they seek your permission. Bilal b. 'Abdullah said: By Allah, we shall certainly prevent them. On this'Abdullah b. Umar turned towards him and reprimanded him to harshly as I had never heard him do before. He ('Abdullah b. Umar) said: I am narrating to you that which comes from the Messenger of Allah and you (have the audacity) to say: By Allah, we shall certainly prevent them.

QUICK LESSONS:
Allow your wives access to religious places such as mosques if they wish so

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about allowing women to attend mosques when they seek permission from their husbands. Abdullah b. Umar reported that he heard Allah's Messenger say not to prevent women from going to the mosque when they ask for permission. Bilal b.'Abdullah disagreed with this statement and said that he would prevent them from going, but Abdullah reprimanded him harshly for his disagreement as it was against what the Prophet had said. This hadith teaches us that we should respect our wives' wishes and allow them access to religious places such as mosques if they wish so, even if we disagree with it ourselves. We must also remember not to disrespect or argue against what has been said by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in any way or form as it is a sin in Islam and can lead us astray from our faith if done repeatedly or without repentance afterwards.
