Sahih Muslim 336c (Book 3, Hadith 88) #7936
Privacy and Prayer in Islam

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's daughter Fatimah providing him privacy while he took a bath and then offering eight rak'ahs of the forenoon prayer.

This hadith is narrated by Sa'id b. Abu Hind with the same chain of transmitters and said: His (the Holy Prophet's) daughter Fatimah provided him privacy with the help of his cloth, and when he had taken a bath he took it up and wrapped it around him and then stood and offered eight rak'ahs of the forenoon prayer.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of both privacy and prayer in Islam. It tells us that even Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, was provided with privacy when taking a bath by his daughter Fatimah. After taking a bath, he stood up to offer eight rak’ahs of the forenoon prayer. This shows us how important it is for Muslims to maintain their privacy as well as pray regularly throughout the day. It also highlights how important it is for children to respect their parents and provide them with whatever they need or ask for from them.
