Washing Hands and Face Before Going to Sleep

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) woke up at night, relieved himself, washed his face and hands and then went back to sleep.

Ibn 'Abbas reported: The Apostle woke up at night; relieved himself, and then washed his face and hands and then again slept.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَقَضَى حَاجَتَهُ ثُمَّ غَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ نَامَ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of washing one's hands and face before going to sleep. It was narrated by Ibn 'Abbas that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ woke up at night, relieved himself, washed his face and hands with water, then went back to sleep. This shows us how important it is for us to clean ourselves before going to bed in order for us to be spiritually pure. It also teaches us that we should take care of our hygiene even when we are tired or sleepy as this will help keep our bodies healthy. Furthermore, it reminds us of the importance of following the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ in all aspects of life including personal hygiene.
