Proper Etiquette in the Restroom

SUMMARY: When using the restroom, one should not touch their private parts with their right hand.

Abu Qatada reported it from his father that the Messenger of Allah said: When anyone amongst you enters the privy he should not touch his penis with his right hand.

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow proper etiquette while using the restroom; Maintain good hygiene practices; Be mindful of how you act in public spaces; Respect yourself and others; Keep yourself clean and pure even in places like restrooms

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad taught us proper etiquette when using the restroom. He said that we should not touch our private parts with our right hand when entering a lavatory. This is because it is considered unclean and impure to do so, as it is a place of filth and dirtiness. We must remember to always keep ourselves clean and pure, even in places like this. It is important to maintain good hygiene practices at all times, especially when dealing with intimate areas of our body.

Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us about respect for ourselves and others by reminding us to be mindful of how we act in public spaces such as restrooms. We must always be aware of how our actions can affect those around us and strive to maintain an atmosphere of respect for everyone’s privacy and dignity at all times.
