Trimming Moustache and Growing Beard

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) instructed Muslims to trim their moustaches and grow their beards in order to differentiate themselves from the fire-worshippers.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah said: Trim closely the moustache, and grow beard, and thus act against the fire-worshippers.
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي الْعَلاَءُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ، مَوْلَى الْحُرَقَةِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ جُزُّوا الشَّوَارِبَ وَأَرْخُوا اللِّحَى خَالِفُوا الْمَجُوسَ

In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ instructed Muslims to trim their moustaches and grow their beards in order to differentiate themselves from the fire-worshippers. This is a sign of piety as it shows that one is devoted to Allah SWT and His teachings. It also serves as a reminder for Muslims not to follow the practices of those who do not believe in Allah SWT or His teachings. Furthermore, it serves as an outward sign of faith that can help strengthen one's relationship with Allah SWT by reminding them of His presence at all times.
