Sahih Muslim 228 (Book 2, Hadith 10) #7714
Prayer as Expiation for Past Sins

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that if a Muslim performs ablution and prays with humility and bowing, it will be an expiation for their past sins.

'Amr b Sa'id b al-As reported: I was with Uthman, and he called for ablution water and said: I heard Allah's Messenger say: When the time for a prescribed prayer comes, if any Muslim performs ablution well and offers his prayer with humility and bowing, it will be an expiation for his past sins, so long as he has not committed a major sin; and this applies for all times.

QUICK LESSONS:
Perform ablution before praying , Offer prayers with humility and bowing

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains the importance of prayer in Islam. It states that if a Muslim performs ablution, which is washing certain parts of the body before prayer, and then offers their prayer with humility and bowing, it will be an expiation for their past sins. This means that any wrongdoings they have done in the past can be forgiven by Allah through this act of worship. The hadith also mentions that this applies to all times; so no matter when or how long ago someone has committed a sin, they can still seek forgiveness through prayer.
