Come nearer to God by any means possible such as prayer or good deeds. Show gratitude for His blessings and love Him with all your heart and soul.

This hadith explains the closeness of Allah to His slaves. It tells us that if a person comes closer to Allah, even by a small amount, then Allah will come even closer in return. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used the example of a span and cubit which are two different measurements from ancient times. A span is the distance between the tip of your thumb and little finger when stretched out, while a cubit is slightly longer than that. So this hadith teaches us that no matter how small our efforts may be in coming closer to Allah, He will always respond with an even greater reward for us.
