Sahih al-Bukhari 7515 (Book 97, Hadith 140) #7217
The Debate of Adam and Moses

SUMMARY: This hadith is about a debate between Adam and Moses, in which Adam was able to prove his point and win the argument.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Adam and Moses debated with each other and Moses said, 'You are Adam who turned out your offspring from Paradise'. Adam said, "You are Moses whom Allah chose for His Message and for His direct talk, yet you blame me for a matter which had been ordained for me even before my creation?' Thus Adam overcame Moses".

QUICK LESSONS:
Remember your own strengths when defending yourself against criticism or accusations; Do not blame others for matters out of their control .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us about a debate between two of the most important prophets in Islam, Adam and Moses. It is said that they debated with each other, with Moses accusing Adam for being the one who caused his offspring to be expelled from Paradise. However, despite this accusation, it was said that Adam was able to prove his point by reminding Moses that he himself was chosen by Allah for His message and direct talk. In this way, it can be seen that even though we may face accusations or criticism from others at times, we should always remember our own strengths and abilities when defending ourselves. Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us not to blame others for matters which were ordained before their creation as it is out of their control.
