Sahih al-Bukhari 7477 (Book 97, Hadith 103) #7180
Firmness in Prayer

SUMMARY: We should be firm in our requests to Allah and not leave it up to His will, as He does what He wills and no one can force Him.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "None of you should say: 'O Allah! Forgive me if You wish,' or 'Bestow Your Mercy on me if You wish,' or 'Provide me with means of subsistence if You wish,' but he should be firm in his request, for Allah does what He will and nobody can force Him (to do anything).

QUICK LESSONS:
Make sincere requests with faith & conviction

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that when we make a request to Allah, we should do so with firmness and conviction. We should not leave it up to His will or mercy, as He does what He wills and no one can force Him. It is important for us to remember that Allah is all-powerful and all-knowing, so if we make a sincere request with faith then our prayers will be answered. We must also remember that even though Allah has the power to do whatever He wishes, He still wants us to ask Him for help with conviction and faith.
