This hadith is about a couple on whom the judgment of lian has been passed. In this case, lian refers to an accusation made by one spouse against another in which they accuse each other of adultery or fornication. In this particular case, Ibn Abbas mentioned that it was not related to a woman who was accused without any proof. Instead, it was related to a Muslim woman who aroused suspicion due to her misbehavior. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that we should not stone someone without any proof or evidence as he believed in justice and fairness for all people regardless of their gender or religion.
