Sahih al-Bukhari 7068 (Book 92, Hadith 19) #6791
Patience in Adversity

SUMMARY: The Prophet advised to be patient and not to complain about the wrongs one is suffering, as the time following it will be worse.

Narrated Az-Zubair bin 'Adi: We went to Anas bin Malik and complained about the wrong we were suffering at the hand of Al- Hajjaj. Anas bin Malik said, "Be patient till you meet your Lord, for no time will come upon you but the time following it will be worse than it. I heard that from the Prophet".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of patience in times of adversity. It was narrated by Az-Zubair bin 'Adi that he and his companions went to Anas bin Malik and complained about the wrong they were suffering at the hands of Al-Hajjaj. Anas bin Malik then reminded them that no time will come upon them but that which follows it will be worse than it, a reminder he heard from Prophet Muhammad himself. This hadith teaches us that we should remain patient when faced with difficulties, for Allah knows best what is good for us and He has promised us a reward if we remain steadfast in our faith during difficult times. We should also remember that whatever difficulty we are facing now may seem unbearable but there could always be something worse coming our way if we do not remain patient and trust in Allah's plan for us.
