Sahih al-Bukhari 7024 (Book 91, Hadith 41) #6752
The Power of Ghira

SUMMARY: The Prophet saw a dream in which he entered Paradise and saw a palace made of gold. He asked who it was for, and the angels said it was for someone from the Quraish. Umar then expressed his surprise that his Ghira (jealousy) would be offended by the Prophet entering the palace.

Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah: Allah's Messenger said: (I saw in a dream that) I entered Paradise, and behold, there was a palace built of gold! I asked, 'For whom is this palace?' They (the angels) replied, 'For a man from the Quraish'. " The Prophet added, "O Ibn Al-Khattab! Nothing stopped me from entering it except your Ghira"'.Umar said, "How dare I think of my Ghira being offended by you, O Allah's Messenger ?"

QUICK LESSONS:
Control your emotions and strive not to let them take over your life

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how powerful jealousy can be, even when it comes to something as holy as paradise. In this hadith, Prophet Muhammad saw a dream in which he entered paradise and found a golden palace there. When asked who it was for, he was told that it belonged to someone from the Quraish tribe. Umar then expressed surprise that his own jealousy would prevent him from entering such an amazing place - showing how powerful jealousy can be even when we don't want it to be! This hadith teaches us that we should always strive to control our emotions and not let them take over our lives - especially if they are negative emotions like jealousy or anger.
