Sahih al-Bukhari 6942 (Book 89, Hadith 3) #6672
The Conversion of 'Umar and the Mountain of Uhud

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the story of 'Umar's conversion to Islam and how he was forced to leave it before his own conversion.

Narrated Qais: I heard Sa'id bin Zaid saying, "I have seen myself tied and forced by 'Umar to leave Islam (Before 'Umar himself embraced Islam). And if the mountain of Uhud were to collapse for the evil which you people had done to 'Uthman, then Uhud would have the right to do so".

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect other people's beliefs; Do not coerce or pressure someone into believing something; Do not commit any wrongdoings against anyone; Be just in all your dealings with others etc..

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells the story of 'Umar, one of the companions of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. Before embracing Islam, 'Umar was forced to leave it by another companion named Sa'id bin Zaid. The hadith also mentions a mountain called Uhud which is located in Medina. It implies that if this mountain were to collapse due to all the evil done against 'Uthman, then it would have been justified in doing so. This hadith teaches us that we should not force anyone into any religion or belief system as everyone has their own right to choose what they believe in and practice freely without any coercion or pressure from others. It also teaches us that we should not do anything wrong or unjust towards anyone as even mountains can take revenge for such acts if they are severe enough.
