This hadith is about how Muslims should respond when greeted by a Jew. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that when a Jew greets someone with the phrase “Sam’Alaika”, which means “death be upon you”, one should reply with “Wa 'Alaika” which means “and upon you”.
