Sahih al-Bukhari 6780 (Book 86, Hadith 9) #6522
Defending Those Who Love Allah and His Apostle

SUMMARY: The hadith is about a man called Abdullah who was known as Donkey and he used to make the Prophet laugh. He was lashed for drinking alcohol, and the Prophet defended him when someone cursed him.

Narrated 'Umar bin Al-Khattab: During the lifetime of the Prophet there was a man called 'Abdullah whose nickname was Donkey, and he used to make Allah's Messenger laugh. The Prophet lashed him because of drinking (alcohol). And one-day he was brought to the Prophet on the same charge and was lashed. On that, a man among the people said, "O Allah, curse him ! How frequently he has been brought (to the Prophet on such a charge)!" The Prophet said, "Do not curse him, for by Allah, I know for he loves Allah and His Apostle".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be kind to those who love Allah even if they have made mistakes in their lives .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us that even if someone has done something wrong, we should not curse them if they love Allah and His Messenger. We should instead be patient with them, as the Prophet showed us in this example. The Prophet knew that Abdullah loved Allah and His Messenger despite his mistakes, so he defended him from being cursed by others. This teaches us to be kind to those who love Allah even if they have made mistakes in their lives. We should also remember that it is never too late for anyone to turn back to Allah's path of righteousness no matter how many times they have strayed away from it before.
