Sahih al-Bukhari 6772 (Book 86, Hadith 1) #6514
The Unbeliever's Sins

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that when a person commits a sin, they are not considered believers at the time of committing the sin.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger said, "When an adulterer commits illegal sexual intercourse, then he is not a believer at the time he is doing it; and when somebody drinks an alcoholic drink, then he is not believer at the time of drinking, and when a thief steals, he is not a believer at the time when he is stealing; and when a robber robs and the people look at him, then he is not a believer at the time of doing it". Abu Huraira in another narration, narrated the same from the Prophet with the exclusion of robbery.

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive to be better Muslims by avoiding sinful actions and repenting for them if done in the past .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how people who commit sins are not considered believers at the time of committing those sins. It mentions four specific sins - adultery, drinking alcohol, stealing and robbery - but it can be applied to any sin. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was teaching us that if we do something wrong, we should not think of ourselves as believers because our actions do not reflect our faith in Allah SWT. We must strive to be better Muslims by avoiding these types of actions and repenting for them if we have done them in the past. By doing this, we can become true believers and live according to Allah's will.
