Accountability After Departure

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ is warning his companions that they will be judged for their actions after he has left them.

'Abdullah added: The Prophet said, "I am your predecessor at the Lake-Fount, and some of you will be brought in front of me till I will see them and then they will be taken away from me and I will say, 'O Lord, my companions!' It will be said, 'You do not know what they did after you had left'.

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive to do good deeds even when no one is watching us .

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was warning his companions that they will be held accountable for their actions even after he has left them. He said, “I am your predecessor at the Lake-Fount, and some of you will be brought in front of me till I will see them and then they will be taken away from me and I will say, 'O Lord, my companions!' It will be said, 'You do not know what they did after you had left.' This means that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would not know what his companions did after he had passed away. Therefore, it is important to remember that we are responsible for our own actions and must strive to do good deeds even when no one is watching us. We should always remember that Allah knows all our deeds and we must answer for them on the Day of Judgment.
