The Prophet's Prayer for Abu Talib

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) prayed for Abu Talib to be given a garment from Paradise.

Narrated 'Abbas: that he said to the Prophet "Did you benefit Abu Talib with anything?"
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ، عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِلنَّبِيِّ هَلْ نَفَعْتَ أَبَا طَالِبٍ بِشَىْءٍ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's prayer for his uncle, Abu Talib. It is narrated by 'Abbas that he asked the Prophet if he had done anything to benefit his uncle, and the Prophet replied that he had prayed for him to receive a garment from Paradise. This shows us how much love and care the Prophet had for his family members even though they were not Muslim. It also teaches us that we should always pray for our loved ones and ask Allah to bless them with good things in this life and in the hereafter. Furthermore, it reminds us of how important it is to have faith in Allah's mercy as He can grant us blessings even after death.
