Sahih al-Bukhari 6384 (Book 80, Hadith 79) #6133
The Treasures of Paradise

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the importance of being kind to oneself and that Allah is always listening and seeing.

Narrated Abu Musa: We were in the company of the Prophet on a journey, and whenever we ascended a high place, we used to say Takbir (in a loud voice). The Prophet said, "O people! Be kind to yourselves, for you are not calling upon a deaf or an absent one, but You are calling an All-Hearer, and an All-Seer". Then he came to me as I was reciting silently, "La haul a wala quwwata illa bil-lah". He said, "O 'Abdullah bin Qais! Say: La haul a walaquwata illa bil-lah, for it is one of the treasures of Paradise". Or he said, "Shall I tell you a word which is one of the treasures of Paradise? It is: La haul a wala quwwata illa bil-lah".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be kind to yourself; Recite “La Haul A Wala Quwata Illa Bil -Lah”; Praise Allah by saying “Allahu Akbar”; Strive for Paradise; Have faith in God's presence at all times .

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was travelling with his companions when they reached a high place. His companions began to loudly recite Takbir, which is praising Allah by saying "Allahu Akbar". The Prophet then reminded them that they were not calling out to someone who was deaf or absent, but rather they were calling out to an All-Hearing and All-Seeing God. He then went on to tell Abdullah bin Qais one of the treasures of paradise which was reciting "La haul a wala quwata illa bil-lah" which translates into "There is no power or strength except from Allah". This hadith teaches us that we should be kind to ourselves as we are always in the presence of Allah and that reciting this phrase will bring us closer to Him. It also reminds us that there are many treasures in paradise for those who strive for it.
