Seeking Refuge with Allah from Afflictions

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to seek refuge with Allah from the afflictions of the Fire, grave, wealth, poverty and Al-Masih Ad-Dajjal.

Narrated 'Aisha: The Prophet used to seek refuge with Allah (by saying), "O Allah! I seek refuge with You from the affliction of the Fire and from the punishment in the Fire, and seek refuge with You from the affliction of the grave, and I seek refuge with You from the affliction of wealth, and I seek refuge with You from the affliction of poverty, and seek refuge with You from the affliction of Al-Masih Ad-Dajjal".
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا سَلاَّمُ بْنُ أَبِي مُطِيعٍ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ خَالَتِهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ كَانَ يَتَعَوَّذُ ‏ "‏ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ النَّارِ وَمِنْ عَذَابِ النَّارِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْقَبْرِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْغِنَى، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْفَقْرِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about seeking refuge with Allah from various afflictions. The Prophet Muhammad PBUH taught us that we should seek protection and safety in Allah from all kinds of harm and danger. He specifically mentioned five types of afflictions which are the punishment in the fire, punishment in the grave, affliction of wealth, affliction of poverty and al Masih ad Dajjal. By seeking refuge with Allah we can protect ourselves against these harms and be safe under His mercy. We should always remember to turn to Him for help when faced with any kind of difficulty or hardship as He is our only source of protection.
