Showing Respect to Elders and the Majority

SUMMARY: Respect should be shown to those who are older, sitting, and in larger numbers.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger said, "The younger person should greet the older one, and the walking person should greet the sitting one, and the small number of persons should greet the large number of persons".

QUICK LESSONS:
Greet people with more seniority than you; greet people in larger groups; appreciate others' presence; show kindness towards others
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us the importance of showing respect to those who are older than us, those who are sitting down, and those who are in larger numbers. It is important for us to show respect by greeting them first when we meet them. We should not wait for them to greet us first as this shows that we do not value their presence or age. This hadith also teaches us that it is important for everyone regardless of age or number to show respect towards each other as this will create a harmonious environment where everyone can feel valued and appreciated.
