SUMMARY: The hadith is about a woman asking the Prophet ﷺ for a verdict regarding her father's Hajj obligation. The Prophet ﷺ then gives her the verdict and also stops Al-Fadl from looking at her due to his attraction towards her beauty.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas: Al-Fadl bin 'Abbas rode behind the Prophet as his companion rider on the back portion of his she camel on the Day of Nahr (slaughtering of sacrifice, 10th Dhul-Hijja) and Al-Fadl was a handsome man. The Prophet stopped to give the people verdicts. In the meantime, a beautiful woman From the tribe of Khath'am came, asking the verdict of Allah's Messenger . Al-Fadl started looking at her as her beauty attracted him. The Prophet looked behind while Al-Fadl was looking at her; so the Prophet held out his hand backwards and caught the chin of Al-Fadl and turned his face (to the owner sides in order that he should not gaze at her. She said, "O Allah's Messenger ! The obligation of Performing Hajj enjoined by Allah on His worshipers, has become due (compulsory) on my father who is an old man and who cannot sit firmly on the riding animal. Will it be sufficient that I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He said, "Yes".

QUICK LESSONS:

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the obligation of performing Hajj, which is an Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca that all Muslims must do at least once in their lifetime if they are able to. In this hadith, a woman from Khath'am tribe asked the Prophet Muhammad for a verdict regarding her father's obligation of performing Hajj as he was an old man and could not sit firmly on the riding animal. The Prophet Muhammad gave his verdict that it would be sufficient if she performed it on behalf of him. Additionally, this hadith also teaches us about modesty and respect as when Al-Fadl was looking at the woman with attraction due to her beauty, the Prophet Muhammad held out his hand backwards and caught Al-Fadl's chin in order to turn his face away from looking at her. This teaches us that we should always maintain our gaze lowered when we see something or someone attractive so as not to disrespect them or make them feel uncomfortable in any way.
