Kindness in the Face of Harshness

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the importance of being kind and lenient, even when faced with harshness and bad words.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin Mulaika: 'Aisha said that the Jews came to the Prophet and said, "As-Samu 'Alaikum" (death be on you)'.Aisha said (to them), "(Death) be on you, and may Allah curse you and shower His wrath upon you!" The Prophet said, "Be calm, O 'Aisha ! You should be kind and lenient, and beware of harshness and Fuhsh (ie bad words)". She said (to the Prophet), "Haven't you heard what they (Jews) have said?" He said, "Haven't you heard what I have said (to them)? I said the same to them, and my invocation against them will be accepted while theirs against me will be rejected (by Allah)".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of kindness and leniency, even when faced with harsh words or bad language. It is narrated by Abdullah bin Mulaika that Aisha was once confronted by some Jews who said "As-Samu 'Alaikum" which translates to "death be on you". In response, Aisha became angry and wanted to curse them back. However, Prophet Muhammad advised her to remain calm and not respond in kind. He explained that his invocation against them would be accepted while theirs against him would be rejected by Allah. This teaches us that we should always strive for kindness no matter what situation we are in or how someone may treat us. We should also remember that Allah will always protect those who are patient and kind despite facing adversity or hostility from others.
