Sahih al-Bukhari 5991 (Book 78, Hadith 22) #5751
Maintaining Good Relations With Relatives Who Have Cut Ties

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught that being a Wasil is not about repaying good done to you by your relatives, but rather it is about maintaining good relations with those relatives who have cut ties with you.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr: The Prophet said, "Al-Wasil is not the one who recompenses the good done to him by his relatives, but Al-Wasil is the one who keeps good relations with those relatives who had severed the bond of kinship with him".
