Sahih al-Bukhari 5927 (Book 77, Hadith 142) #5686
The Reward for Fasting

SUMMARY: Allah rewards those who fast and the smell of a fasting person is more pleasing to Allah than the smell of musk.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "(Allah said), 'Every good deed of Adam's son is for him except fasting; it is for Me. and I shall reward (the fasting person) for it'. Verily, the smell of the mouth of a fasting person is better to Allah than the smell of musk".

QUICK LESSONS:
Fast with sincerity and dedication
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the reward that Allah gives to those who fast. It is narrated by Abu Huraira, one of Prophet Muhammad's companions, that Prophet Muhammad said that Allah said every good deed done by Adam's son will be rewarded except for fasting which is only for Him and He will reward it. Furthermore, it is mentioned in this hadith that the smell of a fasting person's mouth is better to Allah than even the smell of musk. This teaches us how important fasting is in Islam and how much reward we can get from it if we do it with sincerity and dedication. It also shows us how much value our deeds have in front of Allah even if they are small like abstaining from food or drink during certain hours each day.
