Sahih al-Bukhari 5805 (Book 77, Hadith 23) #5567
Clothing for Ihram

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ instructed people on what to wear when assuming the state of Ihram, and what not to wear.

Narrated 'Abdullah: A man got up and said, O Allah's Messenger ! What do you order us to wear when we assume the state of Ihram?" The Prophet replied, "Do not wear shirts, trousers, turbans, hooded cloaks or Khuffs (socks made from thick fabric or leather), but if a man has no sandals, he can wear Khuffs after cutting them short below the ankles; and do not wear clothes touched with (perfumes) of saffron or wars".

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow instructions given by Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) regarding clothing while assuming the state of Ihram .

EXPLANATIONS:
When a person is in the state of Ihram, they are required to dress in a certain way. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ instructed people not to wear shirts, trousers, turbans, hooded cloaks or socks made from thick fabric or leather. However if someone does not have sandals then they can cut their socks short below the ankles and wear them. Additionally he also prohibited wearing clothes that have been touched with perfumes of saffron or wars. This hadith teaches us that when we are in a sacred state such as Ihram we should be mindful of our clothing choices and avoid wearing anything that could be considered inappropriate for this spiritual journey.
