Sahih al-Bukhari 572 (Book 9, Hadith 48) #551
Staying Awake for Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) delayed the 'Isha' prayer till midnight and encouraged people to stay awake and pray.

Narrated Anas: The Prophet delayed the 'Isha' prayer till midnight and then he offered the prayer and said, "The people prayed and slept but you have been in prayer as long as you have been waiting for it (the prayer)". Anas added: As if I am looking now at the glitter of the ring of the Prophet on that night.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's encouragement of people to stay awake and pray late at night. He himself delayed the Isha prayer until midnight, showing his commitment to this practice. Anas ibn Malik was present on this occasion and described seeing the glitter of the ring of the Prophet on that night. This hadith teaches us that we should be devoted in our prayers and not take them lightly or forget about them. We should also strive to make our prayers meaningful by being mindful during them instead of just going through the motions without any thought or feeling behind it.
