Sahih al-Bukhari 5499 (Book 72, Hadith 25) #5275
Refusing to Eat Meat Not Slaughtered in the Name of Allah

SUMMARY: Zaid bin 'Amr Nufail refused to eat meat offered by pagans as it was not slaughtered in the name of Allah.

Narrated 'Abdullah: Allah's Messenger said that he met Zaid bin 'Amr Nufail at a place near Baldah and this had happened before Allah's Messenger received the Divine Inspiration. Allah's Messenger presented a dish of meat (that had been offered to him by the pagans) to Zaid bin 'Amr, but Zaid refused to eat of it and then said (to the pagans), "I do not eat of what you slaughter on your stone altars (Ansabs) nor do I eat except that on which Allah's Name has been mentioned on slaughtering".

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow Islamic laws and regulations when consuming food; strive to please Almighty Allah above all else; follow His commands even if they are difficult for us or go against our desires/wishes; remember that everything we do must be done for the sake of pleasing Him alone; consume only food which has been slaughtered according to Islamic laws and regulations .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about Zaid bin 'Amr Nufail, who was a companion of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He met with Prophet Muhammad ﷺ at a place near Baldah before he received divine inspiration. The pagans offered him a dish of meat, but he refused to eat it as it was not slaughtered in the name of Allah. This hadith teaches us that we should only consume food that has been slaughtered according to Islamic laws and regulations and refrain from eating food that has been sacrificed on stone altars or idols. We should always remember that everything we do must be done for the sake of pleasing our Creator, Almighty Allah, and nothing else matters more than His pleasure. We should also strive to follow His commands and teachings even if they are difficult for us or go against our desires or wishes.
