Sahih al-Bukhari 536, 537 (Book 9, Hadith 14) #517
Delaying Zuhr Prayer in Hot Weather

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) taught us to delay the Zuhr prayer in hot weather as it is a sign of the severity of heat from Hell-fire.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "In very hot weather delay the Zuhr prayer till it becomes (a bit) cooler because the severity of heat is from the raging of the Hell-fire. The Hell-fire of Hell complained to its Lord saying: O Lord! My parts are eating (destroying) one another. So Allah allowed it to take two breaths, one in the winter and the other in the summer. The breath in the summer is at the time when you feel the severest heat and the breath in the winter is at the time when you feel the severest cold".

QUICK LESSONS:
Respectfully delay your prayer until it becomes cooler during hot weather

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us about the importance of delaying our prayers during hot weather. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that this is because the severity of heat comes from the raging fire of hell. He also said that Allah has allowed hell to take two breaths, one in winter and one in summer, which is when we feel the severest heat and cold respectively. This hadith reminds us to be mindful and respectful when performing our prayers, even if it means having to wait for cooler temperatures before doing so. It also serves as a reminder for us to stay away from sins as they can lead us closer towards hellfire.
