QUICK LESSONS:
Seek knowledge and guidance from religious leaders when making decisions about life and health .

EXPLANATIONS:
During the time of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, it was a common practice to use coitus interruptus as a form of contraception. This is a method where intercourse is stopped before ejaculation in order to prevent pregnancy. It was reported that Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari used this method during the lifetime of Allah's Messenger. This hadith shows us that even though Islam encourages having children, it also allows for methods to prevent pregnancy if needed or desired. It also teaches us that we should always seek knowledge and guidance from our religious leaders when making decisions about our lives and health.
