Marriage of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to Safiyya

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) married Safiyya and her Mahr was her manumission, and he gave a wedding banquet with Hais.

Narrated Anas: Allah's Messenger manumitted Safiyya and then married her, and her Mahr was her manumission, and he gave a wedding banquet with Hais (a sort of sweet dish made from butter, cheese and dates).
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ، عَنْ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَعْتَقَ صَفِيَّةَ، وَتَزَوَّجَهَا وَجَعَلَ عِتْقَهَا صَدَاقَهَا، وَأَوْلَمَ عَلَيْهَا بِحَيْسٍ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the marriage of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to Safiyya. The Mahr or dowry for this marriage was her manumission from slavery. To celebrate their union, the Prophet ﷺ gave a wedding banquet with a dish called 'Hais'. This hadith teaches us that slavery should not exist in any form and that we should celebrate our unions with joy and happiness. It also shows us how generous and kind-hearted the Prophet ﷺ was towards his wives.
