Sahih al-Bukhari 49 (Book 2, Hadith 42) #49
Searching for Al-Qadr

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) came out to inform the people about the date of the night of Al-Qadr, but due to a quarrel between two Muslims, he forgot it and suggested that they look for it in the 7th, 9th and 5th nights of Ramadan.

Narrated 'Ubada bin As-Samit: "Allah's Messenger went out to inform the people about the (date of the) night of decree (Al-Qadr) but there happened a quarrel between two Muslim men. The Prophet said, "I came out to inform you about (the date of) the night of Al-Qadr, but as so and so and so and so quarrelled, its knowledge was taken away (I forgot it) and maybe it was better for you. Now look for it in the 7th, the 9th and the 5th (of the last 10 nights of the month of Ramadan)".

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect your fellow Muslim brothers even if you disagree with them .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how Allah's Messenger went out to inform people about the date of Laylatul Qadr or ‘the night of decree’. Laylatul Qadr is one of the holiest nights in Islam as it is believed that on this night Allah decrees all matters for the coming year. However, during this time there was a quarrel between two Muslims which caused Allah's Messenger to forget what he was going to say. He then suggested that they look for it in three different nights during Ramadan - 7th, 9th and 5th - as these are considered among some of its most likely dates. This hadith teaches us several values such as patience when faced with difficult situations and respect towards fellow Muslims even when we disagree with them. It also reminds us how important Laylatul Qadr is and encourages us to search for it diligently during Ramadan so we can reap its blessings throughout our lives.
