Sahih al-Bukhari 4785 (Book 65, Hadith 307) #4568
The Option of Choice

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) giving his wives the option to stay with him or leave him, and Aisha (RA) choosing to stay with him without consulting her parents.

Narrated 'Aisha: (the wife of the Prophet) Allah's Messenger came to me when Allah ordered him to give option to his wives. So Allah's Messenger started with me, saying, "I am going to mention to you something but you should not hasten (to give your reply) unless you consult your parents'. He knew that my parents would not order me to leave him. Then he said, "Allah says:-- "O Prophet! Say to your wives".. (33:28-29) On that I said to him, "Then why should I consult my parents? Verily, I seek Allah, His Apostle and the Home of the Hereafter".

QUICK LESSONS:
Consult your parents before making any major decisions in life; Follow what Allah has commanded you; Have faith in God's plan for you; Respect your elders; Make wise choices based on knowledge and understanding .

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, we learn that when Allah commanded the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to give his wives an option between staying with him or leaving, he started by asking Aisha first. He knew that her parents would not order her to leave him and she chose to stay without consulting them. This shows us how much trust and faith she had in Allah and His Messenger. It also teaches us that we should always consult our parents before making any major decisions in life as they are wise and have our best interests at heart. We can also take away from this hadith that it is important for us to make sure we are following what Allah has commanded us in all aspects of our lives, even if it means making difficult choices like Aisha did here.
