Sahih al-Bukhari 4277 (Book 64, Hadith 311) #4085
Breaking Fast During Ramadan

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) set out on a journey during Ramadan and some of the people were fasting while others were not. He drank milk or water, which caused those who were not fasting to tell those who were to break their fast.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: Allah's Messenger set out towards Hunain in the month of Ramadan and some of the people were fasting while some others were not fasting, and when the Prophet mounted his she-camel, he asked for a tumbler of milk or water and put it on the palm of his hand or on his she-camel and then the people looked at him; and those who were not fasting told those who were fasting, to break their fast (ie as the Prophet had done so).

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's journey during the month of Ramadan, when some of his companions were fasting and some weren't. When he mounted his she-camel, he asked for a tumbler of milk or water and put it on the palm of his hand or on his she-camel. This caused those who weren't fasting to tell those who were to break their fast as well. This hadith teaches us that we should respect each other's decisions when it comes to religious practices such as fasting in Islam, even if we don't agree with them. We should also be mindful that our actions can influence others around us in both positive and negative ways, so we should always strive to do what is right according to Islamic teachings.
