EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the marriage of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to Maimuna. It was narrated by Ibn 'Abbas that the Prophet ﷺ married Maimuna during a special type of pilgrimage called an ‘Umra. An ‘Umra is a pilgrimage to Mecca and its surrounding areas that Muslims are encouraged to perform at least once in their lifetime. In this case, it was performed in lieu of another ‘Umra which could not be performed due to certain circumstances. This hadith teaches us about the importance of fulfilling our religious obligations even when faced with difficult situations and obstacles. It also shows us how important marriage is in Islam and how it should be taken seriously as a sacred institution between two people who love each other and want to build a life together under Allah’s guidance.
