Sahih al-Bukhari 392 (Book 8, Hadith 44) #388
Fighting for Faith

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that Muslims should fight against those who do not believe in Allah until they accept the Islamic faith and follow its teachings.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: Allah's Messenger said, "I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah'. And if they say so, pray like our prayers, face our Qibla and slaughter as we slaughter, then their blood and property will be sacred to us and we will not interfere with them except legally and their reckoning will be with Allah".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about fighting for faith. It was narrated by Anas bin Malik, who said that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was ordered to fight people until they say "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah". If they accept this statement and pray like Muslims, face towards the Qibla when praying and slaughter animals in a similar way as Muslims do, then their blood and property will be sacred to us and we will not interfere with them except legally. Their reckoning will be with Allah. This hadith teaches us that it is important to stand up for our beliefs even if it means fighting for them. We should also respect other people's beliefs even if we don't agree with them.
